Alexa was getting a headache from all the teasing and taunting. The thing was no one was talking shit about her. Funny ain't it. She lived in a city where racism was all around her and she couldn't do anything about it. The Whites vs. Hispanics/Mexicans were becoming too much of a war in her case. What was she? A little bit of both, but no one knew that.
They just assumed Alexa was white because of her father. Her mother was from Mexico but died after Alexa was four. Her father, Jason Gillart saw how much she resembled himself and took her to live in his hometown. Still Alexa had some features to be questioned about. Perhaps the too dark of a tan. She didn't have that lovely brown color that Mexican women were born with but much darker to the average white women. Pretty much everything else physically was accepted by the Whites.
Alexa walked rapidly down the hall meeting up with two of her friends, Mike and Terra. Terra was already in her green cheerleader outfit with her naturally strawberry blonde hair pulled back. Mike wearing his practice clothes for football gave Alexa a big smile. Yes sadly she was on the cheerleading squad too and were friends with the jocks. It's not that she hated cheering but for her it felt out of place.
"Jose shouldn't you be cutting my grass!" Captain of the football team Dan shouted. Jose gave him a smirked and replied a nasty comment.
"Hell naw!" Dan was going to jump him but Mike got him. "Don't..." Mike put his efforts into holding Dan back.
"Why not!"
"Cause you started this shit, you shouldn't have said nothing."
"Fine practice is in twenty minutes" Dan stormed off smacking his helmet against the lockers.
"Someone's angry." Terra laughed. Alexa didn't say anything. She admired Jose for saying something back to Dan. Also for the fact that Jose had no shame for being proud for where he came from. Her on the other hand was scared shitless for even thinking about telling her two best friends that she was half Mexican.
"Yea but I think there's going to be a fight over at the field." Mike ran his fingers through his shabby blonde hair. His green eyes gazing at Alexa's brown ones.
"Why?" Alexa had to ask. "The soccer players are playing on the football field since we don't got a soccer field," Terra shook her head.
"This is going to be one fucked up afternoon isn't it?" Alexa closed her eyes.
"Do you even have to ask?" Mike replied.
"Nope and that's why we're heading to the field to get a better view" Terra smiled linking her arms with Alexa and Mike. When they got there a circle was already formed in the middle of the field.
"Why don't you get the fuck off of out field!" Dan was already shouting. "He never stops screaming does he?" Terra asked.
"I guess not," Alexa was starring at the main people in the fight. Dan...of course and then two other guys Miguel and Jose.
"How about no." Miguel shorter then Dan looked up at him. Jose didn't say nothing just stayed behind his friend Miguel.
Mike left his two friends to be alongside Dan. Football captain just laughed in disbelief. He then took a football from the grass and slammed it against Miguel's face. Miguel then regain his balanced from almost falling and pushed Dan to the wet grass punching him.
Mike being the good friend he was tried to get Miguel off of Dan. But Jose took this as a signal as him trying to hit Miguel so Jose took a swing at Mike.
"Mike should've just let Dan get his ass kick for being stupid." Terra yelped. "Yea but he's nice like that." Alexa didn't take her eyes off the fight until a whistle blew. Everyone besides the four guys looked at who blew the annoying thing. Principal Killinworth
This chubby man miraculously broke up the fight but just like so many people in this city he was also racist. He assumed that Miguel and Jose were the troublemakers and took them to his office. How nice.
Alexa glanced at Jose who was looking at her then quickly looked away. For a second she smiled wanting to take his pain away but she couldn't.
"You look beat," Terra said sarcastically. Alexa took a good look at Mike. He didn't look as messed up as Jose did but a couple of forming bruises on his face.
"He knows how to fight, damn," Mike was in pain.
"What did you expect from a kid who grew up in the streets?" Alexa wiped dirt from his cheek which was sort of difficult for her. Mike was 5'11 making her a good eight inches shorter and 2 inches shorter then Terra.
Mike didn't answer. "Well this was a waste of cheerleading practice today." Terra folded her arms.
"What are you guys going to do now?" Mike questioned them.
"I'm doing my community service today in the schools office." Alexa sighed. Another boring day with Mrs. Springfield.
"Um...Alexa after that can we talk?" Mike didn't look at her. "Yea sure?" Alexa wondered what could it be but shrugged it off while walking back to the school building.
