"I had my wake up
Won't you wake up
I keep asking why
And I can't take it
It wasn't fake
It happened, you passed by
Now you are gone, now you are gone
There you go, there you go
Somewhere I can't bring you back
Now you are gone, now you are gone
There you go, there you go,
Somewhere you're not coming back
The day you slipped away
Was the day I found it won't be the same noo..
The day you slipped away
Was the day that I found it won't be the same oooh..."
Slipped Away- Avril Lavigne
Three girls walked along the tides coming in on the sandy beach. All three were walking up to a lifeguard who was sitting at his post grinning as they came in closer. The girls were in their early twenties.
"Hey Ian," the golden blonde hair girl said as she hugged the jet-black haired lifeguard. "We decided we would come and visit you, since you look all so lonesome," she smiled.
"Thanks for being so considerate, Violet," replied Ian. "Lucky for you my shift ended about 10 minutes ago."
One of the other girls with bleached blonde hair chimed in, "I am going to go surfing now. I will see you guys later in the water." She ran off to get her hot pink board, which was propped, against the side of the Lifeguard station. With that, she smiled and dashed to the water.
"You got to love Ashley and her enthusiasm for surfing, even though she is not exactly the greatest," smiled the only brunette in the bunch. The rest began to laugh as they watched Ashley paddle on the waves.
Ian then turned to the two girls, "So Violet and Kimmy, are you planning on surfing a bit?" The girls looked at each other, shrugging.
Kimmy replied, "I think I will just watch you guys make fools of yourselves." She smiled as she began to lay her towel on the sand.
"I will come in a little bit. I just need to get changed really quick, but you go ahead and I'll catch up with you guys in about five minutes," Violet said as she quickly hugged Ian and turned to walk away. She made her way to the small changing cabana on the beach.
Ian began to turn to the cool ocean and called to Ashley, "Yo Ashley, I'd be careful. The tides are becoming a bit more fierce." Then he began to walk towards the waves. Ashley smiled as she tried to catch a few waves.
Kimmy smiled as she watched Ian try to teach Ashley how to surf better. After five minutes, she finally began to get the hang of it. The waves soon began to get higher and higher as the wind started to grow stronger and more severe. Ashley and Ian, trying to see if they could catch a big wave, began to brace themselves. The wave grew closer and closer. Right as it came about ten feet behind them, they both stood at the precise moment. However, the currents and winds clashed. Kimmy gasped as she saw what was about to happen.
In a blink of an eye, Ian and Ashley were engulfed by the vengeful waves. Their boards, however, shot out from beneath the waves and began to float in two halves and travel on with the currents. Kimmy, shocked, started to scream for help. A brown haired guy, hearing her, ran quickly down the beach right up to Kimmy.
"What's going on?" He asked frantically.
"Breck, it's Ashley and Ian! They were surfing and eh...they…eh…" she screamed hysterically. "They, I…think…I think they drowned!"
He began to call the other lifeguards as Kimmy dialed 911. Finally, an operator picked up.
"I need the police! I'm at Sunrise Playa and…and" Kimmy's mind began to race.
"Calm down Miss. Now, stay calm and tell me what happened." The operator demanded. Finally Kimmy was able to get out what happened. She hung up and looked to the water, crying. She then ran quickly into the cabana to get Violet.
"Violet, come quickly!" Kimmy called and quickly ran back outside.
"Kim, what's going on?" Violet asked, but Kimmy didn't reply. She just kept running. Violet, confused, quickly followed. The sirens blared on the beach flooding it with red lights. Violet stopped as she saw Ian's body.
"Kimmy, who…who is that?" her voice trembled.
"It's Ian, Violet, he…um…drowned, with Ashley, while surfing. I just saw them having a great time and the next thing I knew they were under and I didn't know what to do so I called the ambulance and I got you and…and…" Kimmy stuttered.
"Excuse me, ladies, I must ask you to leave the premises, this is a death scene, and the professionals need to do their work," a man ordered as another man began to walk up. The other man slowly shook his head and walked back to the bodies. They placed them in black bags, and zipped them up. Right before they zipped it up all the way, Violet saw Ian's face.
"That's not Ian…that's not my Ian!" cried Violet. "He can't be gone! Ian! Ian! IAN!!!" She reached her arms out but Kimmy began to hold her back as she tried to calm her down. The men took the bags and loaded them into the ambulance. They slammed the doors and sent the van on its way. Violet stared at it driving off and sat down and began to hold her head in her hands. She began to mumble, "This isn't happening…this isn't happening…"
Kimmy just looked at her friend lost in words. Breck walked back and began to hold Kimmy in his arms. Everyone felt lost. The scene slowly turned dark and faded.
"And…cut!" called a voice. Everyone began to talk as the cameras turned off. "Well done everyone! Well done! We are now officially done with our last episode of our first season of Sunrise Playa (ply-a)! Congrats everyone! Good show!"
Kimmy began to quickly stand up as her coworkers began to smile and walk up to their director Ethan. Ethan quickly yelled last minute details to backstage crewmembers and walked up to the cast.
"Violet, well done on those tears! The audience will just eat this up! After all, our show is the newest yet most interesting show in the business! Oh I am so excited! Kimmy, don't you worry, I promise you you'll get the spotlight in the next season!" Ethan squealed.
Kimmy smiled and said, "Thanks, but of course we would never get this series started without our talented director. Am I right?" Everyone yelled and whooped in agreement.
"Oh and I got good news. Even though we will no longer see Ashley and Ian, we will be getting a new leading man. His name is Kody and he is flying all the way from the 'Land down under' in two weeks! I will be seeing all of you here in three weeks ready and raring to go!" yelled Ethan.
Ashley walked up to Ethan and asked, "Can I still visit the set? I mean you guys are like family to me. Please…"
Violet linked her arm with Ashley and said, "Pretty please."
Kimmy joined the two and said, "Pretty, pretty please with sugar on top."
Ethan rolled his eyes and then quickly smiled. "Is there anyway of separating you three?"
"Nope, not at all," smiled Kimmy. The three began to walk to Ian.
"Sorry you have to leave," said Ashley.
"I'll be alright and besides I had a great time with all of you guys. I'll be seeing all of you ladies later," Ian grinned as he walked off with his girlfriend, Lexi.
Breck began to walk up to Kimmy and said, "Maybe we can hang out sometime one of these days."
"I'll think about it," Kimmy said with a grin on her face.
"Remember to rehearse your lines people! Pick up the new scripts on the back table! Have a good three weeks!" Ethan yelled. Everyone turned around, grabbed their scripts and began to walk out of the outdoor studios and to head for their little vacation.
"So what do you think our new co-star from Australia will be like?" asked Kimmy as they headed towards her car.
"I hope he's hot. Maybe I can get a few more dates," Ashley giggled.
"How can you always think of getting a guy every five seconds?" Violet asked.
"It's more like ten seconds, thank you very much!" Ashley said matter-of-factly.
Kimmy asked Violet, "Oh come on, you can't tell me you're not a little curious about Mr. Australian."
"There is nothing wrong with being single and loving it." The three girls laughed as they walked past their cars, smiling. They then happily began to skip and looked through store windows.
"I could use a couple more clothes…" Kimmy said as she looked at her friends.
"Fine with us," replied Violet.
"Good, because we could be here a while!" Kimmy said as she happily ran into the store. The two followed closely behind.
