Chapter 2
"You like him Shanna." Kayo said ruefully as Shanna drove them to her house.
"What gave you such a silly idea?" She replied.
"You only asked for his number, let him stay put, and talked peacefully to him."
"It was what I should of done and I didn't have a choice." Shanna said seriously but calmly, the earlier excitement nearly forgotten.
"Yes you did have a choice and you never act like that."
"I can always start."
"You can, but you of all people wouldn't."
"Whatever, Kayo."
"You admit it."
The next day at school Shanna caught sight of Rex. She realized that he was in a gang and probable leader. She was going to ask him how to get in somehow. Shanna maybe can talk him into scaring the crap out of little kids tonight since it was Halloween. She won't tell Kayo, since she doesn't like scaring the little ones. Shanna promised not to scare tykes, but nothing was said of children.
"Hello Rex." Shanna said abruptly.
"Hey it's you. The girl with the smart mouth and great fighting maneuvers."
"Don't flatter me. Besides, I was wondering if you'd join me in scaring the crap out of the little kids." Shanna said in a seducing voice and full of an unmistakable attitude.
"What the heck, I'll consider it," He walked up to his fellow gang members and conversed with them, until they made a decision, "Hey Shanna. Want to join our gang?"
"What's the catch?"
"Nothing really. You can either party with every current gang member or steal something of value."
"Let me think on it and I'll meet you later by the lake in Freesia Park. We'll get the kiddies around there and I'll tell you my decision."
"Sure. 5:30pm sharp. Got it?"
"Gotcha." Shanna said in a mild tone suppressing her joy.
Shanna celebrated her victory. She'll join the gang and have fun this Halloween. She'll tell Kayo that she isn't able to help her pass out candy and maybe freak some kids out with her decorations.
Kayo was sitting down at lunch eating silently as this took place. She knew Shanna wasn't coming and she was going to get some excuse why. Maybe she could ask Azusa for help.
Azusa is a tall, slim girl. She had long blonde hair and it was almost always in a ponytail. She has light blue eyes and a sparkling look to it. Her large eyes can get anyone's attention. She isn't the prettiest girl, but she isn't ugly either.
"Hey, Azusa." Kayo bent a bit closer.
"Yes, Kayo. What cha need?"
"Hey, I was wondering if you can help me with candy tonight."
"What about Shanna?"
"She ain't coming, I can see it in her eyes."
"You know her that well? Well, I guess you do, since you guys have been friends forever."
"So you'll help?"
"Sure. Unless Shanna changes her mind of course." She said ending in a bit of a joke since they both knew Shanna wouldn't change her mind on anything once she put her mind to it, she was so stubborn.
"Hey, Azusa. I'll catch up with you later, alright?"
"See yah later amigo." Azusa replied with a grin.
As Kayo started leaving Azusa felt a deathly cold. She felt like something terrible was going to happen. She hid it from Kayo but she knew that maybe she shouldn't have been so quick to agree. She quickly dispelled those thoughts and continued her lunch with unease.
Kayo got up and threw her trash away. She then walked up to Shanna who was now on her way to their table.
"Hey Kayo. I won't be able to make it, okay?"
"Alright, but it's you who's missing out."
"Crap, it's always fun passing out the candy, since Kanji always scares the crap out of everyone. It's especially funny when teenagers like us are having Halloween Dates. Remember that one girl who beat him with a purse for scaring her. That guy was holding her close all the way up to the house." Shanna said rather sincerely. She also grinned ruefully and said, "Wonder what you and Kanji might do since I'm not around to stop anything."
"Hey! That's no fair." Kayo threw up her hands in frustration.
"You're blushing." Shanna pointed out.
"Well at least I'm not dating Rex The Beast, so have fun with him tonight." Kayo grinned at her come back and the look of disdain on Shanna's face. Kayo then walked away in unmistakable triumph before Shanna could say anything else.
"Damn." Shanna muttered as Kayo walked silently away, with a huge grin of satisfaction on her face.
A/N: Okay I know it's short, but deal with it. Chapters three and four are around the same size and five might be too. I'll try to get six longer cause like I said before, I think, I already had 1-4 written and half of 5....R&R...Read 'An Elven Legend' and 'Darkened Sanctuary.' I know I wrote them and am of course going to say their good, but they are, atleast in my opinion along with the people I know who actually read it... (A-A)
