I search for True Happiness

In this dungeon below

Many told me it was hopeless

Though until I try, I'll never know.

The catacombs are dark

My torch reveals the path

But with Happiness at the end

The can be no turning back.

As I continue down below

There are many dangers as well as traps

But the subtle warnings that they provide

Are not enough to help me last.

I search for True Happiness

In this dungeon below

Many told me it was hopeless

Though until I try, I'll never know.

I hold the torch in my right hand

In my left, a bright golden key

The shopkeeper swore it was genuine

I am skeptical if I can trust his guarantee.

I can admit I am afraid of what

May lie in the darkness there

But I must find this golden gift

And share it with others in their despair.

So I search for True Happiness

In this dungeon below

Many told me it was hopeless

Though until I try, I'll never know.

At long last I come upon a magnificent room

The decorations sparkle like the sun

And there, in the middle a treasure chest

Could my long search now be done?

The chest is golden with silver inscriptions on the cover

There is a bright light shining through the keyhole

The box feels warm as I place my hand on its splendid lid.

I can't contain my excitement, for I have reached my goal.

I searched for True Happiness

And in the dark remained strong

Many told me it was hopeless

However, I proved them wrong.

I take the shopkeeper's golden key

And try to insert it into the slit

But all it takes is a look at both

And you can see the key won't fit.

The shopkeeper had lied to me

He had only wanted money

This key wouldn't unlock Happiness

The man was greedy and probably thought it funny.

I searched for True Happiness

Down here in the dark

Many told me it was hopeless

They were right: I missed my mark.

I turn my back on Happiness

And begin to walk away

At least I have come closer this time

Than I had any other day.

But as I walk there is a realization

We can all look for Happiness

We can all search to be free

But before you can find Happiness

You must first find The Key.
