Introduction

Lakeside and Excelavince

Lakeside was a pretty little town by Amberrose Lake. It look like an ordinary town, it even acted like and ordinary town some of the time. Lakeside was town practically in the middle of nowhere. There wasn't another piece of civilization within 75 miles. It was this that made lakeside the perfect place for Excelavince. Now Lakeside has a population of about 800, which makes keeping secrets pretty hard. Never the less only about 2/3 of the people of lakeside know about Excelavince, and none of them would ever tell you. However everyone in Lakeside knows the story of Amberrose. And they won't ever, ever tell you. You see what happens at Lakeside stays at Lakeside. Lucky for you though, I will tell you the story of Amberrose, because it is essential to the story Annie and Cassie, which has to be told.

Domicole was a very powerful sorcerer, but very, very terrible. He ruled over everyone and taxed them greatly so he could live in wealth. He made all the people his servants, and they either had to serve him or die. The people were poor and ragged and it was a terrible Kingdom. The fields were in ruins, the art of the trade were disintegrating, rapidly, and no one had any money or food, except for Domicole. Looking at the land it's hard to imagine that just a few years ago it was prospering. It prospered under the hand Frinhoy who was king and rightful ruler. Then two years ago Domicole began getting power. He scared people into helping him, or just forced them with his great power. He took over the castle in a violent battle. Domicole himself did not take part until the very end. He watched the thousands of people die in the battle with a smirk on his face. Then when it looked like all but a few of his warriors were dead he blasted everything in sight to smithereens with a key.

Domicole turned the castle into dust and everyone within a two-mile radius died. Although this looks very bad for Domicole, and if you think he just won the battle but has nothing to win, then you're wrong. With great big laugh Donicole held the key in front of him.

"AMORISEN," he cried as the gem in the key began to glow red. All the corpses rose up from the ground and began rebuilding the castle. Domicole laughed into the sky as he watched. He lowered the key, putting it back on the chain around his neck. He beckoned a few of the corpses to take care of him while the rest rebuilt his castle.

After his castle was built, more glorius then the one before, he sent out some of the corpses to gather all of the living people to the castle. It took two weeks, but finally everyone who was still alive in the kingdom was there. Domicole raised his key again, not bothering to take it off the chain and shouted "Norramashin!" the key shined brightly for a second, then faded as all the corpses fell to the ground. "Take those dead bodies away," Domicole told the people. "And the rest of you begin to make me a feast, and new clothes." the people were so afraid of Domicole's wrath that they did as they were told without a second thought.

Many years passed and everyone was still working hard to please Domicole, but it was getting harder because the land was becoming bare since no one could take care of it. Although most of the people were still very afraid of Domicole some of the little children wondered why because they hadn't been there to see Domicole take over. One of them was little Amberrose. Even though he had been alive when Domicole took over he was much to little to have known what was going on. From the stories his elders told him it sounded like they were all afraid of Domicole's key. Amberrose started thinking that maybe without the key Domicole wouldn't be powerful, and the people wouldn't have to serve him anymore. Amberrose's brother Jacken overheard Amberrose saying this in the empty courtyard one day, and he became excited. Jacken thought that if he took the key from Domicole then he could be king and all he had ever wanted to be was a king of a great kingdom. And Jacken did get his wish, just not in the way he expected to.

Domicole had been an extremely powerful Sorcerer before he had the key, and was worth fearing. But in his old age and after years of no use, Domicole's powers had waned. Meanwhile Jacken and Amberrose were realizing something extraordinary, they had magic. Even with no training at all they were able to do magic. It wasn't big magic, just little things like lifting tables to clean under them or making the dishes to themselves, but it was still magic.

Amberrose was chosen to be a personal servant to Domicole in the 4th fall of Domicole's rule. Amberrose noticed that when Domicole slept that the key was always on the chain around his neck. This discouraged Amberrose because if Domicole had taken the key off then Amberrose could have taken it. None the less Amberrose found a way to get it. One night the key was resting on top of the blanket the Domicole slept under. Amberrose reached out and gently detashed the key from the chain and put it in his pocket. Amberrose left Domicole's bed chamber and went home. Amberrose forgot about the key that night because there were so many chores to do before bed. The chores took so long to do that by the time they were finished Amberrose just fell into bed with out even once think about the key. When Domicole woke up he realized that the key was missing. He grew very angry and begang to blast everything in sight with his magic. Domicole's rage was noticed by everyone and everyone wondered what had made him so mad. Domicole called all of his personal servants up to the throne room. He had planned on simply killing them all right then and there, but when he tried to summon a lightning bolt he found that he couldn't. So instead he decided to question them.

"Which one of you has my key!" he demanded of them. Amberrose was still very tired and thus had forgotten about having the key and just stood their silent. The other servants were quaking, fearing his wrath.

"WHO HAS MY KEY!!" Domicole roared very, very angry.

"I have it," Amberrose said taking a step forward, Domicole's yell woke Amberrose up enough to remember about taking the key but not enough to remember common sense.

"YOU STOLE MY KEY!!!!!" Domicole roared raising his hands up as if about to do magic. Amberrose took out the key from the pockets of very worn pants. Holding the key out steady, Amberrose shouted a single word "FALCASODEEMAN" (which is Zorrobian for may all false kings die.) The key's gem glowed a brilliant red and Domicole fell over dead. Everyone rushed over to Amberrose.

"How did you do that," Jacken asked awe struck.

"I got one of the elders to tell me what Domicole had said before to get the key to work,. I looked it up and discovered that it was Zorrobian. So I looked all the phrases that would be needed to defeat Domicole in Zorrobian," Amberrose replied looking slightly smug, "Which reminds me." Amberrose walked out side into the garden and said in loud clear voice, "RAMOSELF ELHEALOS!!" (Which means may this great land be great once more, or may this great land be healed, depending on your translator.) Amberrose began to glow a brilliant red. The glow expended shooting all over the land. The glow was so bright hat everyone had to close their eyes. When the glow finally faded the land was green and rich again. The castle seemed bigger and grander, but humbler. There was also a very deep lake next to the castle that hadn't been there before. Amberrose was no where to be found. Jacken went over to where Amberrose had been, he looked on the ground and saw the large iron key with a red gem embedded in it. Jacken slowly reached down and picked up the key.

"This key is surely the greatest of all time," Jacken said to the people gathered outside, "Just as Amberrose was the greatest of all times. This key is so powerful that we shall call it The Sorcerer's Key." Jacken's voice rang over the ground that was gathering there. In those days many people had magic but almost none were called sorcerer. Sorcerer was the highest title for something or someone magical and thus hardly ever used. "A key this powerful will do great damage in the wrong hands as we have already see with our own eyes. I suggest that we never let it happen again. Thus I will put it in a casket and throw it in Amberrose lake." Jacken said, and someone immediately rushed of to get a casket while the people wondered what "Amberrose Lake" was. When the casket was brought to Jacken he placed the key inside it. Jacken shut the casket very tight and walked over to the edge of the new lake. Jacken threw the casket to the center of the lake where it quickly sank down.

Oh," someone said from the crowd, "That's Amberrose Lake."

"Yes," Jacken replied still looking at the lake, "This is Amberrose lake because Amberrose saved us all." A great cheer erupted at his words because Amberrose truly had saved them all and Kingdom, and maybe the world and even destiny itself.

Jacken found himself the king of this new kingdom, and although he wasn't excepting it, he certainly enjoyed it. Although the kingdom was smaller then it was when Frinhoy was king, it prospered greatly under Jacken's rule. Many generations passed and the kingdom still proposed, but the people decided that a King was old fashioned. And although the kings so far had been good they were worried that they might get a bad one. Also they though that the castle would be better used as a school of magic. The king agreed and the kingdom became a bunch of little villages that ruled themselves. As time passed however the villages fell and became ruins, all except for the one near castle. The school became known as Excelavince and the village Lakeside. All the villagers know the story of Amberrose, but some of the students who come from other places and don't, and that could be a problem. But for know The Sorcerer's Key lies at the bottom of a lake in a casket surrounded by muck, but for how much longer will it lie there?

A/N And that concludes the proplogou. Now on to the story! (once it's wrriten that is) Please review.
