Eyes Shut Tight

by, Cassandra

Though everything I hold so dear is falling apart through bitter tears,
I really hoped you'd understand the will it took to open my hand.
Heart long locked up oh so tight, still hanging by a fragile thread.
The love eats through like rust decay and I can't seem to find the blame.
But words cut deep, see I bleed. My heart's blood flows through cracks of time.
My tears fall like rain from a cloud and I can't be saved once they hit the ground.
The shell is hard, the inside soft and well-aimed words can stop the clock,
ticking down till morning's light and the tears that fall from eyes shut tight.
