Where Will You Be Tonight?

Have we been apart for all this time?

I don't recall, I didn't see

Just you leaving as you walked in line

As you faced away from me

-------------

I stood watching you depart

For hours I thought to myself

You never a work of art

Never meant to be confined to a shelf

-------------

But I still love the smile you left for me

I still hope you can be what you want to be

But when I lie in bed staring into the light

I think; where will you be tonight?

-------------

Even though over time you've dimmed

There is still a piece of me that wonders

But the thought makes me cringe

Do you think of me when you blunder?

-------------

I don't know where you are and I don't care

Just as long as you have a bed

Not lying in the gutter with dirt in your hair

Not knowing where you have been led

-------------

But I still love the smile you left for me

I still hope you can be what you want to be

But when I lie in bed staring into the light

I think; where will you be tonight?
