Mid sentence out of sheer astonishment

A flash of red wings and white breast

Swoop rapidly around the pear tree

Birds scatter left and right

To avoid the mighty preadator

He may have claimed one of themselves

But all the others have vanished

I cannot imagine seeing a raptor this close

My heart seemed to stop momentarily

My eyes in disbelief

But I knew what I had seen wasn't a dream

Birds were still in hiding

As far as I know they're still on the lookout

For they never know what terror from above will strike

And if I were in the same position, I'd do the same.
