He didn't remember anything, not a thing at all, the last thing he could remember was sticking the needle into his vein and injecting himself with a syringe full of heroin. He layed in bed, opened his eyes, and stared up at the cieling in a daze. Thoughts began to creep through his mind of how he wanted more, how he craved more......and how she left him in the cold.
He forced himself out of bed and looked over at his clock, which read Saturday 3:00pm.
"Ughhh, late for work again.." He thought to himself as he tumbled out of bed and onto the floor. He reached for the side of the bed so he could get a grip on something to support him so he could actually stand up. He finally grabbed the bed and stood up then out of nowhere, fell back down again. He layed on the floor in tears as he looked at a broken picture frame, inside the frame was a picture of his ex fiance, Kara. She had been through everything with him, thick and thin, everything and anything you could think of. But time got the best of things like it always does. Just when you think things are going good, its like a slap in the face. Kara had passed away a week ago.
Aaron closed his eyes and sudden flashbacks came rushing through his mind. He remembered coming home from work and finding the house door wide open, he remembered racing into the bedroom and seeing Kara with the gun in her hand pointed to her head. He remembered the look on her face, the look, her last words, then the loud bang of the gun that echoed throughout his ears for so many endless nights and would continue to echo and ring through his ears throughout his whole life.
"I could have done something, it was my fault..my fault..." He sobbed as he smashed the picture frame with his fist. "Its my fault, I could have done something, I could have...son of a bitch! WHY DAMN IT WHY!!!!" He cried as he layed on the floor. His tears blurred his vision as he reached for his stash. He then got a strange feeling in his stomach and was almost about to vomit, he struggled to get onto his feet and raced over to the door, flung it open, and then slowly collapsed in tears. He remembered how happy they were together, how they had their entire wedding planned out, he remembered everything...
As the day passed on, Aaron got dressed and managed to make it out of the house. He didn't know where he was going or what he was doing, he just wanted to get out, and he did. He took off walking down the street.
"I'd give anything to have you back Kara...Anything." He thought to himself as he forced away the tears and then walked down the street. The coulds began to roll in and the rain began to pour down, Aaron still kept on walking, not knowing where he was or where he was going...he knew he had to keep walking for some strange reason, he just had to.
After what seemed to be miles, he finally came to the cemetary that Kara was burried at. Aaron entered the place, and quickly started searching for her grave. He finally found it and knelt down beside it, placing his hands ontop of it and the tears streamed down even more.
"Why Kara why! Why didn't I fucking do something, anything! Its my fault! All my fault!" Sobbed Aaron as he placed his head down on her gravestone. "I'd give the world to know that you were okay, to have one last goodbye, just one...I could have done something. You'd still be here if I..." Aarons words were cut short because of his endless tears.
He cried and cried, then with those last words that he said, the clouds slowly began to part and the rain stopped. A cool breeze began to circle around him, he closed his eyes as he let the breeze wrap around him. It felt like someone embracing him and that someone was Kara.
"I will always be here Aaron..always..." She whispered within the tones of the wind.
Aaron opened his eyes as the wind slowly died down. He stood up, and looked down at Kara's grave where a single rose lay, he looked at the rose and thought of how it wasn't there before. He picked up the rose and cupped it gently in his hands.
"Always.." Aaron sighed to himself as he looked down at the rose..
Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and months turned into years. Before you knew it, Aaron was sober and living a clean life. Sur he would have the cravings once in a while, but every time he did, he was reminded of why he turned his life around and he did it because of her.....because of Kara....
