Note: I know it's not an update of Birth of a Butterfly... but it's coming soon... I promise!
"Tonight," says Julianne, "I'm going to teach you how to dream." She sighs happily and snuggles into her pillow, looking rather infantile in her Pooh Bear pajamas.
Shane looks up, grinning wryly at her. His hair falls attractively across his face— Juli blinks and ignores it. "That could be taken has implied innuendo, you know," Shane says, closing his book and flopping down on the bed beside her, hands resting on his chest.
"Maybe it was," Juli teases, rolling onto her side and gazing sleepily at him.
Staring at the glow-in-the-dark stars on his best friend's ceiling, Shane has to fight the urge to drift off. The windows, with the long gauzy curtains curling lazily around them, are open, and the air drifting in is warm. "Mmm," is his noncommittal response.
"Innuendo aside, I really am going to teach you how to dream." She lifts her head to rest it on her hand and peers down at Shane. "Come here."
He rolls over, facing her. Juli moves closer and rests her head on his shoulder, wrapping her arms around him. "Now go to sleep," she murmurs, closing her eyes.
He sleeps more heavily that night then he has in years.
