The First of September

It's the first of September,

And it already feels colder.

The first day of September,

And I feel another day older.

But even amidst this growing cold,

I will never, ever, need a coat.

For your love is my fire.

It's the first of September,

And it's harder to get out of bed.

The first of September,

Six years now my heart by your Spirit has been led.

And still through it all I can walk for miles

I can walk for miles and never grow weary.

For your love is my energy.

It's the first of September

And I feel weaker than the day I was born.

The first of September,

I lift my eyes to you, my heart never forlorn

As the leaves begin to fall,

I can stand easily on my own two feet.

For your love is my strength.
