This is What You've Missed

They say that writing poetry is

a way to express your feelings.

Well, then, this world must be pretty depressed

because every one I've read has sent me reeling.

I see

cries of pain and black India ink splattered all over the screen

I see

lost individuals who speak of life as if that's the only thing they've never seen.

And in my mind's eye I can picture clearly

rainbow-colored drops falling from above

because corruption is never black

only sweet and bitter love

And their tears wash over me in salty waves

and I see poetry for what it really is

It's when you tear out your emotions and tack them to paper.

to show the happy people what they've missed.
