"Quit lying, tradgedy was never alright."
Amanda Gebhardt '05

A little girl of only thirteen
With shattered hopes and broken dreams
sings to herself...a lullaby
She sits up in bed straight as a board
as people yell and shit hits the floor--
she prays to God, no-one gets hurt tonight

Why does everything go wrong?
Why doesn't anything ever change?
Doesn't anybody care or find it strange

How the world deteriorates every single day?
He sits there alone while resting his feet
He plays his guitar, on this battered street.
He'll never forget His Mom saying,
"Never come home again."
He won't pretend he never made some mistakes
But was it enough to forsake
A child who simply couldn't understand?

Why does everything go wrong?
Why doesn't anything ever change?
Doesn't anybody care or find it strange

How the world deteriorates every single day?
She sits in class Too stoned to care
How they poke fun and laugh and stare
...She never did like to socialize...
She cries to herself-
Finger finding the trigure
She had been called worthless--
Is Daddy ever worth this?
All she wanted was someone to love her.

Why does everything go wrong?
Why doesn't anything ever change?
Doesn't anybody care or find it strange

How the world deteriorates every single day?
Please say you'll hold me tight, I'll be alright I'll be alright,
I hope no-one gets hurt tonight, I'll be alright, I'll be alright,
I never said I needed you to fight, I'll be alright, I'll be all-fucking-right!
