I looked around my room one last time. So many memories came back…so many terrible memories. I closed my eyes as they began to water.
Suddenly I felt someone place there arm around me. I looked to the side of me to see Nikki.
Nikki had been my best friend for 6 years. She has always been there for me like we were sisters. I could always be myself around her.
Nikki helped me get my bags and pack them into the car.
I walked back into the house to say goodbye to my mom and brother. My mom threw her arms around me and began to cry.
That was the first time I ever saw my mom cry. I hugged her and began to cry to. My brother walked up to me and gave me a hug too.
"You keep your grades up, okay?" My mom said with a faint smile.
I walked out the house as my brother called to me, "See ya, loser." He gave me a smile and a wave.
I laughed and waved back.
When I came out my now ex-boyfriend, Clinton, came up in with his mom in a car.
Clinton got out the car and walked up to me.
I took off his necklace that he gave me three years ago when we first started dating and put it in his hand.
He hugged me tight like he didn't want to live me. For the first time Clinton started crying a little.
"Ah, don't cry." I wiped his tear away and smiled.
He smiled back and leaned down to kiss me on the lips for the first time.
Before I left he whispered in my ear, "I'll always remember you."
As me, Nikki, and her mom drove away I thought about all my friends here. Nikki was pretty sad to be living some of our friends too but she promised that I would like Australia.
When we got to the airport it was very early and I could smell the morning dew.
How I would miss the morning dew.
When we finally got to Agnes Water, Australia it was late at night and I was extremely sleepy.
Nikki was already sleeping in the taxi.
When we got to the house I helped unpack our bags from the taxi and into the house. But before I went inside I got a good look at the house.
It was two stories and it had a balcony. They also had a beautiful garden and a pool.
After Nikki and I finished unpacking her aunts, uncles, and cousins greeted me.
There was Auntie May, Auntie Maria, Uncle Danny, and Cousins Roy (16), Lauren (11 like me and Nikki), and Denise and Danny Jr. (Both 3).
Everyone seemed very kind and sweet, exceptionally Uncle Danny and Roy. They would always try to act like the tough men when Auntie May and Maria could bet them in arm wrestling any day.
After eating a quick dinner and getting a shower. I went to sleep in my new room.
I had to share it with Nikki and Lauren but it was big enough.
I laid down in my single bed and thought about how much happier I was now. I rolled over and put the covers over me and closed my eyes.
"Hey Ashley?" Nikki said.
"Yea, what is it?" I said rolling over to face toward her bed.
"Tomorrow we are going to get up early so me and Lauren can show you around, okay?"
I smiled, "Great."
I slept knowing that I would have a better and happier life now.
