Smokey Breath
She sunk her teeth into the semi-cold roll of bread and marveled how such a hard piece of bread could taste so good. She greedily took another bite, and realizing how hungry she was, chewed slowly and took slow, lingering bites. After several bites, she blew a breath of relief that her hunger wasn't scraping the insides of her stomach for every snip of food available. Her breath created a white cloud in the cold air, and she rubbed her arms mechanically.
She leaned against the freezing wall, and finished the bread until only half was left. She shoved this piece into the left pocket of her flimsy jacket, and lied back, waiting. There she sat, breathing the cold air, and it was only until she heard running footsteps down the alley that she cracked a smile.

He forced himself to run faster, almost slipping in the dirty puddles left over from past rains. He growled, marveling how he allowed his reputation to slip him. Careful not to slip, he deftly held the cup in his hand. When he saw her small figure against the wall, he stopped running and caught his breath. He cursed and saw her lips curl into a smile.
He walked towards her, panting and out of breath, and handed her the cup. In exchange, she handed him half a loaf of bread. He quickly sunk his teeth in the bread, and looked towards the end of the alley, avoided her curious gaze. Finally she spoke, slightly amused.
"Black Horsemen?" He sighed, and cursed himself.
"Bodger's Inn."
She chuckled and he rolled his eyes, wondering if having a bloody twin was worth the time.
A/N:
Yes!
This is a short chapter. I liked what I wrote, so I posted it.
Whether this is actually a one-shot, or if I should waste precious
study-for-test time to actually make this story work, I dunno. It
seems interesting enough, so I might keep working on this. Consider
this a prologue. ;D
