Before I turned fourteen
I used to look around at the world
And nothing ever quite registered
Coincidences never made sense
And I took everything for granted
Including Christ's sacrifice.

But then I turned fourteen
And everything fell into place
Albeit painfully.
I'm not who I was at thirteen
I am a new creation in Christ
Coincidences don't exist anymore
Because everything is God's plan
Even if it doesn't match ours
But that's okay
Because God is sovereign– He is holy
And He knows what He's doing by now

On my fourteenth birthday
I heard four words
That made everything click:

"The cross is unforgettable."
