The teacher wonders,

As the little girl before her,

Stares blankly with empty eyes.

Her mother wonders

As her little baby

Drifts farther away.

Her best friend wonders

Why Jay-Jay won't

Laugh anymore.

Her father wonders

Why she doesn't

Tell anyone.

The teacher sobs

When she reads

The paper that morning

Her mother sobs

While she wonders

Her best friend sobs

Because Jay-Jays

Gone to a better place.

Her father sighs

Relieved that she's

Free from his rage,

Even while he rots

Surrounded by white walls.

The coroner wonders

Who could do

Such a horrible thing

To such and innocent soul.
