A/N: This is the beginning from Luna's POV. Do not be confused.
Chapter 1 - The Living And The Dead
There was a knock on the door. I slipped the dagger I was holding into my right sleeve in the hidden pocket within. I casually walked to the door leading out of my room and opened it. ZIYOOM! I quickly twisted sideways as a knife sped inches past my face and struck the opposite wall with a resounding thud.
"Oh, and I was so close, too," pouted Crystal, my older sister.
"But you are getting better. I might have to step up your training a bit more", I said.
Crystal pouted even more. Although my training was tough, I knew she could pull through it without too much harm. And even though she was my older sister, she still lacked some important skills that I quickly excelled in when I was younger.
Crystal was of average height and average weight. Almost everything was average on her right down to her hazel-colored hair to her perfect smile. In fact, from a glance she looked completely normal with the exception of her blue eyes. However, for those who knew her well, which not many did other than myself, knew that she hid amazing talents within and was quite the exceptional thief. Whereas I was almost the opposite. I stood quite short next to my sister, clad in only black cloth and light armor with my bright green eyes. My hair was black, but a weird shade of black. It had almost silvery blue streaks in it that shined like a flowing river in the moonlight. One of my nicknames is The Ghost for solely that reason. I'm only 17 while my sister is actually 20. Where I excelled in blades and close combat, my sister excelled in throwing weapons and ranged combat. Our skills are as opposite as the sun and the moon. We couldn't be any more different. But our personalities are an entirely different matter; we could have been twins. Our minds are so similar that we can almost finish each other's sentences and thoughts. Unknowingly I was staring at my father's shield with his name and crest engraved on it. The crest was of a spiked dragon grasping swords in its claws and a sword down its throat. The dragon was painted a fierce gold against a black background with red blood dripping from the dragon's mouth and claws. It symbolized as a double edged blade meaning 'be careful who you trust and to use the outside world to your advantage. Crystal noticed I was staring at the shield. I could almost feel the waves of sorrow emanating from her. She was thinking about our near recently deceased parents.
Our parents were killed by the king's soldiers in the name of treason for plotting to gather followers to disrupt the town. They believed that the laws and rules that the king made were unjust and needed to be fixed. Instead the king made an example out of them and announced that they were villains and scoundrels. Unworthy of the king's supposed kindness. And the town believed the king in the end. That day we were left alone and with a deep hatred for the king of Dracona and his soldiers. We searched for someone who could teach us how to be thieves and assassins so we could exact our revenge for our parents' deaths. This is my story and the assassination attempt that would follow the next day.
A/N: So this is my first real story so helpful hints, suggestions, yeah even flames. Let me know what you think so I can decide on how to continue with this story. I know this first chapter was pretty short but I want to see where people think this should go. Thanks for reading!
