Judging Eyes

She glares at you, her eyes
consumed with judgment for
the pain you inflicted
on your son, now her love.
The moments you missed;
the years he never knew you.
Now she is the caregiver,
picking up his baggage
to start a new life

But if only she knew
how her naive eyes
pierced your heart.
The nights you yearned
to be in the warmth
of your precious family.
But it was your duty
to sacrifice your life
to protect people
like her.
