Faux French Kisses

AN: This is a fanfic of I've-seen-the-fairies' story, French Kisses. As such, I would like to point out that the subject matter of this story has no impact on the actual story. I just really loved it so I was like, hey let me play with the characters, and I've-seen-the-fairies was kind enough to allow it.

Now, a couple months later it's done! Please enjoy! And after you review (hopefully), please go read "French Kisses" and its prequel of sorts, "Let's Do It Like This".

"No, Mom, I'm not taking horrible advantage of him… What?… No!… Fine."

Wraith held the phone out to Philippe, who took it with a puzzled look on his face. "Allo, oui?" he asked.

"Hey Philippe, honey!" Kayan squealed.

"Um… hey."

"Wraithy's being nice to you, right?" Kayan asked. "He's not taking advantage of your pure little soul, is he?"

"Taking advantage of my what?" Philippe's eyes widened. "Oh! No, it's fine. I mean, he isn't but if he were it would be fine… I mean, not that I want him to or anything but…"

"Relax, sweetie, I'm only joking," Kayan said with a giggle. "Anyway, James suggested that I call to remind you about Wednesday, but when Wraithy answered the phone I had to think of something quick and being that we keep arguing about whether your innocence is still intact," Philippe's face flamed, "I decided to lecture him about keeping it that way."

"Um… you really don't have anything to worry about," Philippe mumbled as Wraith raised his eyebrows questioningly.

"Hmm… well, I guess I'll talk to you later, then," Kayan said. "Bye dear."

"Au revoir," Philippe said, hearing the phone click as the connection was severed. He frowned when he realized that Kayan hadn't told him what Wednesday was. He thought about asking Wraith but changed his mind when he remembered that Kayan and James obviously hadn't wanted him to know.

"So what do you want to do this evening?" Wraith asked Philippe as they walked into their dorm room the next day. Completely forgetting about the previous phone conversation, Philippe shrugged.

"I don't know," he said. "There's nothing that really interests me tonight."

"Really?" Wraith asked, sounding disappointed. Philippe shrugged.

"Yeah, what's there really to do on a Wednesday?"

"I was going to go to my parent's house… Do you want to come?"

"Nah, but tell Kayan and James I said hello."

Wraith nodded in a dejected kind of way and grabbed his jacket as he headed out the door. Philippe stared after him in surprise. The boy hadn't even said goodbye.

James shuddered slightly at the tension in the air. It hadn't been this thick since the boy moved into the dorm.

"What's with the face?" Kayan asked.

"What face?"

"You look like you ate a bug." James laughed. He couldn't see his son of course, but now he could just imagine his expression. It was kind of funny.

"Yeah, well…"

"Where's Philippe?" James asked hearing Wraith scoff.

"He didn't want to come," he grumbled.

"Really? That's strange… I called and reminded him and everything."

"Well, he didn't want to come and that's all there is to it."

Kayan shrugged and lit the candles carefully before pushing the small cake towards Wraith. This was the first year that Wraith had shared any real thoughts about his birthday, and all he said was that it would be nice for it to just be them and Philippe for the evening.

"Make a wish Wraithy."

"Hey Philippe! Why aren't you with Wraith?" Amie, Wraith's brother, asked as he sat down next to the French boy in the Library.

"We're not attached at the hip, Amie. He went to see your parents and I had some work to do, so here I am."

"Well jeez, you could've put off your work for a night."

"It's not a big deal. I'll just go with him next time."

"Um, you do know what today is, right?" Amie asked, raising his eyebrows at Philippe.

"Wednesday?" Philippe asked. Amie looked like he was trying to decide if the French boy were serious or not.

"Um, didn't Mom or Dad tell you about Wraith's birthday?" Amie asked. Philippe shook his head. "Yeah, he said that this year he wanted it to just be them and… you. I wasn't even invited."

"Oh no," Philippe moaned. "I didn't know that!" If Wraith thought that he didn't care about him, what would happen?

"Wraith?" Philippe whispered, poking his head into the dorm room. Relief washed over him when he saw Wraith's dark form on his bed. He had been expecting him to be locked in the bathroom or not there at all.

Wraith turned to look at him but didn't say anything. Philippe walked slowly to him, sitting what was in his hand on the bedside table before kneeling on Wraith's bed.

"What?" Wraith's voice was sharp and Philippe flinched.

"I just wanted to say happy birthday."

"You weren't there."

"Leave me alone."

Philippe sighed and slunk off the bed, going into the bathroom. He came out a moment later and went back to the bedside table. Wraith watched, pretending to be bored, as Philippe lit a Zippo and held it to the object he had placed on the table.

"Make a wish, Wraithy," he said, holding the cupcake out to the boy. Wraith smiled softly in spite of himself and blew out the candle.

"This is what I wanted the first time," he said softly, kissing the French boy timidly. Philippe sat the cupcake down on the table before leaning in and capturing the goth's lips again.

"Happy birthday, Wraithy," he muttered.

AN: Aww, I can't believe that took me so long to write. But I'm pretty pleased with it. There's so much about each of the characters that I can't convey in a one-shot fanfic but I think I did pretty well considering.

So if you have interest in these characters, check out their actual story, "French Kisses". James and Kayan have their own stories, as well, "Let's Do It Like This", and "The Queer And The Bad Boy". All of the stories are awesome and you won't regret reading them. Just hop on over to I've-seen-the-fairies' profile. She's my absolute favourite FP author, and that's why she gets a fanfic!
