Winter's Reverie
By Simply Shelby

hot tea & honey & lemon
with our vintage laugh crusades
be careful our dresses of tea stains

chrysanthemums are hard to spell
& sunflowers don't have a smell
& daisies dream past the dance of dawn

we live in old farmhouses
& never fear the church "mousse"
or someone else's child's bad grammar

dishes done by families
& the poignant smell of evergreen trees
& exchanging sweet smiles in the dark

the flame's alight in the fireplace
beneath the mantle of picture frames
as we drift asleep in grandmum's old quilts
