Ch.12—Accidental Killing

So, I was off on my way to church, feeling like I had left a good mark on his face, literally. I laughed to myself. I was so glad I had worn my shiny lip gloss this morning. I smiled in the mirror. Then, suddenly I hadn't paid attention to what was in front of me…I heard a thump and my car went over a huge lump in the road. After a few feet, I stopped the car. My eyes widened. I heard a groan from behind me. I shut my eyes tightly. "Oh God Almighty, please tell me he isn't almost dead." I sighed. Gladly, I was on a country road….or close to the country at least. I made sure that no cars were coming, and then…I got out of the car and slowly walked behind it. My heart was beating drastically. I would be in sooo much trouble if I had almost killed somebody, and what was my excuse? I was feeling all high and might because I felt I had actually made an impact on a guy I'd never have. I shook my head. How stupid I was being.

Finally, I got behind my car…there was a guy on the ground. He looked all scratched up. I cringed. This was horrible! I HAD ACTUALLY HIT SOME VULNERABLE STRANGER!!! But—wait! Was he still alive? I had heard him groan, hadn't I? That had to be a sign of life!!! Right? I sighed. I really had to stop analyzing.

I leaned forward and pulled him over to the side of the road. His face was made of stitches! I cringed. Then, he suddenly moved quickly a few inches and then feet! Wait a minute….it was a puppet! I stood up slowly and looked in the direction that the "puppet" had gone. Standing there was none other than the infamous Jack. I glared at him.

"AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!! I'M GONNA KILL YOU!!!!!!" I screeched, running after him. He saw my surprised expression, smiled and then ran away. I kept chasing him though, screaming all the way. I mean, he was totally laughing and I hated it. He was so fast though, and I could barely stay within two feet of him. "I WAS SCARED TO DEATH, YOU LITTLE MONGREL!!!!!" I screamed.

Then, he just stopped out of nowhere, but I didn't realize. I kept running…and I ran right into him. He fell down because of the speed and I fell down on to him. I hadn't come to the conclusion before, but we had been running on a hill and the minute I fell onto him, we went tumbling down it. Now, I really screamed. He just kept smiling and laughing the whole time. Then, he stopped us…and I was on top of him. I smacked him and got up, brushing off my skirt. He stood up confused.

"These are my CHURCH clothes!" I said.

He rolled his eyes. "You were the one that chased after me!" he said.

"Because you made me fall for a puppet! I thought I had killed someone!!" I shrieked.

He smiled and sighed.

"Oh, what are you so smug about?" I asked, my hands on my hips. I raised an eyebrow.

He cleared his throat…and scratched his neck awkwardly.

I sighed. Whenever he wanted to ask me or tell me something serious, he scratched his neck…awkwardly. I couldn't help but smile. "What is it? Tell me," I said.

"Naaah," he said, turning away.

"No, come on!" I said, running up to him. I turned him towards me, so he'd have to look at me. Then, he couldn't hide those embarrassing questions any longer!!! I giggled in my head at the thought. But as soon as I had turned him, there were his eyes again. Those deep, brown eyes…that I always melted into. And that stare. Whenever we were really in connection with each other, he would stare at me. That stare….it reminded me sooo much of that stare Anakin gave Padme in Attack of the Clones. I sighed thoughtfully. I loved Star Wars. But why was he doing this? I mean, I knew he liked me, but this was going too far. After several moments, I broke away from his spell. I looked away forcefully and he returned the gesture. "You've got to stop doing that," I said.

He looked back at me. "You didn't say the right words," he said, taking my hands in his own.

I looked at our hands, then up at him. I snapped my hands back. "What do you think you're doing?! And stop looking at me like that!" I said, walking off towards my car.

"Awww….you weren't as polite as Padme," he said, charmingly.

I stopped dead in my tracks and turned around slowly. There was my glare again. I walked slowly towards him, and I pushed him forwards as I talked. "Who do you think you are? Do you think you're going to win me over by quoting Star Wars? By reenacting the love story? I may be crazy about Star Wars, but that does not mean we are the new Anakin and Padme! For crying out loud, I don't like you like that! So, bug off!!!!" I shouted at him.

His expression had turned from a slick smile to a terrified look. I mean, I wanted it to look terrified, but he was just a little scared because of my speech. I stomped off to my car as he stood there, like most of our positionings left us. Then, I stopped and looked back at him. "Rolling in the grass?" I asked. "That stare of yours?" I chuckled irritatingly. "You sicken me." And I got in my car…and left. Maybe I'd make it to church on time…if I hurried. And didn't stop for lunatic boys like Jack.
