Plutonic Heart

& when the clock strikes twelve
we'll be farther away
& I'm just a little amazed
of how many galaxies lie
between today and tonight.

so lets sit one last time
on top of the clouds as we watch time go by
& perhaps we'll always wish for that second to last
Just a minute more.
But if you keep freezing your clock
You might never fly.

& you tell me we should go to live in Pluto
where today can turn into forever
And forever equals you.
but what about the cold
can we bear the minus two hundred and thirty six degrees?
I may ask.
& you'd smile because we can freeze our hearts
with one last beating that was pumped out for you.

but instead of dreams of endless winters
& frosted love of candy sweet
we watch how
11:59 pours into midnight at
Mercurio's speed.

& I can see how you spread your wings
of 'letting go' feathers.
Filling the air with empty promises
of 'I'll-be-back's'
& I wonder why my heart feels like freezing
In a way that not even all Mercurio's fires
will be strong enough to warm it.

& I'm just a little amazed
of how many galaxies lie
between today and tonight.
