Chapter Six: It Won't Be Soon Before It's Long

Saturday night had finally come. The dance committee was in a complete frenzy for the past six hours, making sure everything was beyond perfect. It was very draining for Eira, Mina, Daiah, and Kylie but they had managed to get it done. It was a half-hour before the dance would start and the students were allowed in.

Cloud had somehow made a very fast recovery, looking better than ever and healthy. Of course, Kylie tried to ask him to the dance but this time instead of public humiliation, he pulled her aside and told her why. She took it hard but managed to find another date in time.

Rain was testing out the microphone while Matt tuned his bass to the correct tune for the first song. Johnny-John was flirting with Mercedes, who was giggling and blushing while flirting in return backstage. But Eira was nowhere to be found and that made Cloud worry.

But small, warm hands suddenly covered his vision as a soft voice said coyly into his ear, "Guess who?" Cloud smirked before turning around and picking up his girlfriend bridal style, making her gasp in surprise. She wrapped her arms around his neck before asking, "So, what do you plan on doing with me, good swordsman Cloud?"

He dipped her low, causing her to laugh mirthfully before telling her, "Well, I've come to make a fair maiden my bride. Have you seen her around? She has chocolate spiral curls and is very appealing to the eye with many tempting curves..." He slid his hand a little up her leg towards her thigh but she whacked it away playfully. "And those yummy ocean blue eyes, oh are they endearing!" She giggled, telling him, "Well, it seems to be that you've found your fair maiden..." He grinned wickedly, "Or at least a good one night stand..."

Eira pouted, "That hurt a little..." Cloud told her in a seductive voice, "Maybe, I can make things better." He bent down to kiss her passionately again when someone cleared their thought behind them. Cloud put his girlfriend down before they both saw Mina, dressed in a red silk gown that made her look like a succubus. Eira smiled a little before asking, "And how may I help you, beautiful temptress?"

Mina said in her most sultry voice, "Yes, young maiden. Your presence is required up on stage." Eira winked at Cloud before telling Mina, "Now, don't work too hard... Not every man wants someone down his pants..." Mina gave a devilish smirk, "Only the sensible ones." They both laughed as they walked up on stage.

Rain gave Eira a brotherly hug before ruffling her hair and asking, "How is my princess?" She smiled, "Ecstatic for her friend's new climb to fame and fortune. Just don't forget to thank me in your Grammy speech." They both laughed at this before Rain asked, "So, what are you supposed to be dressed as?"

Eira replied, "Well, it's sort of a group costume. We are dressed as the Seven Deadly Sins. I am Sloth, Mina is Lust, Daiah is Gluttony, Yolanda is Avarice or Pride, Kylie is Vanity, Mercedes is Wrath, and Jasmine is Envy." Rain chuckled, "I thought this was Valentine's Day, not Halloween." She shoved him playfully, "Shut up, it's fantasy-themed." Rain only chuckled at that.

The clock struck seven, signaling the beginning of the dance. The crowd of students was enormous as they piled into the totally refurbished room filled with many intricate fantasy-like designs along with the original red and pink laced hearts. Everyone stared at awe of the artwork along with the costumes of the girls who were posing as the Deadly Sins.

But when students reached the band area, there was an uproar of applause and cheers as ExRe entered on stage, instruments ready. Rain took his microphone and spoke to the enthusiastic crowd, "Good evening, Reign High School. We are Exile Resentment and we wanna know, how all y'all feeling?" There was a cry of "Good!" as Rain continued on, "Now, this first song is a ballad dedicated to our first fan, Eirasella Hocking."

At the sound of her name, Eira turned from talking to Cloud and Mina and looked straight on stage at Rain, confused. Rain continued, "Eira, this song is for you." He started a beat count in which Johnny-John soon began to play shortly followed by Matt's bass and Rain's guitar. Everyone bounced along with the catchy rhythm as Rain started to sing:

And I wonder if you hear me,

And I wonder if you see me,

And I wonder about the things you say and what you do.

And I think about the problems,

And I hear your voice saying,

Just walk away.

Cause I need an education,

About how to live my life.

So I wanna tell you that,

I need help tonight.

Eira smiled at how realistically Rain had thought about her as he sang the song. She had been his muse for many of his songs but never the subject. It felt nice to be part of something that she had always been with.

And I wonder if you hear me,

And I wonder if you see me,

And I wonder about the things you say and what you do.

And I think about the problems,

And I hear your voice saying,

Just walk away.

So here I am wondering,

Will I ever live my life?

Then I go on asking,

Just when will I get to fight?

And I wonder if you hear me,

And I wonder if you see me,

And I wonder about the things you say and what you do.

And I think about the problems,

And I hear your voice saying,

Just walk away.

When I enter reality,

I just want to escape.

But I have to keep on going,

Even if my sanity quakes.

And I wonder if you hear me,

And I wonder if you see me,

And I wonder about the things you say and what you do.

And I think about the problems,

And I hear your voice saying,

Just walk away.

The band broke for an instrumental break as many began to dance wildly with the beat. It was so easy to dance to yet too cool to dance to. It made you feel alive and young and exactly how you wanted to feel for the rest of your life. It was exactly what Eira always felt when she was around her friends, the band, and her sweetheart. She gave a sideways glance at Cloud, slowly intertwining her fingers with his before turning her attention back to the stage.

So I wonder about how to live,

And I wonder about what you'll say.

But I wonder if there's another way.

But I then realize,

That life can never be lived.

'Cause if life was ever lived,

We would all be killed.

And I wonder if you hear me,

And I wonder if you see me,

And I wonder about the things you say and what you do.

And I think about the problems,

And I hear your voice saying,

Just walk away.

By the end of the song, everyone was so pumped full of energy that as soon as the band moved onto their next song, it felt like it was never going to end. And Eira hoped that this life wouldn't end forever when she had everything she wanted and needed right in front of her.

A/N: Okay, so shoot me. It had absolutely no plot but it was a filler chapter! And I wanted to put this song somewhere so I decided here and yes, this is another original song so no stealing and no, it can't be found on iTunes... At least not yet. I hoped you at least enjoyed the new song... I promise to update soon! -Annie
