As the years passed, Phoenix and Melly were married and they soon expected a child. The demons had grown weary of the treacherous ways they had once enjoyed. Now, they huddled together in an area unknown to the two demon hunters. However, during Melly's pregnancy, the demon's had grown in numbers, slowly gathering strength. The hunters were unaware of this, but continued to scout every night to keep the villages safe.
Soon, Melly had a little baby girl, just as she had expected. She was named Tina. It was unknown what abilities the young child would possess, but Melly knew she would be a great warrior just like her father.
"She is a beautiful baby, Melly." Phoenix gazed into the blue-eyed child. He couldn't help making silly faces and sounds when around his daughter. He was so overjoyed about Tina that Melly never had the heart to tell him the truth. The truth of what awaited her future…
"Yes, my little Tina." Melly smiled at Tina's little face all bright and happy.
"You three make a great picture." Stanton hung up the picture he took earlier of the three. He was quite proud to see the three of them together. Never did he think that things would turn out so well. After all, they all had been through so much. He could only hope that Tina's life would have fewer hardships. "Now, who is going scouting tonight?" Unfortunately, even with the new baby they still had to keep hunting the demons down every night. It worried Stanton that the appearances and occurrences of the demons had decreased dramatically in the past few years. He did not think they had managed to lower the population that much… wishful thinking.
"It's my turn, and this time I'll try to be back before sunrise." Phoenix looked at Tina and kissed her lightly on top of her head. "Are you sure you'll be all right?"
"Yes, don't worry, we'll be fine here." Melly gave Phoenix a hug with one arm and Phoenix kissed her on the cheek before walking out the door into the cold night. "Tina, you are going to grow up to be a strong young lady, yes you are. I know this for a fact, only this time, we'll stay together." Melly was determined to change what fate had in store for all of them. Knowing these things is what made Phoenix so worried about her lately. She had been thinking about it constantly and it must have showed a few times…
"Well, I'm going to go work on my new project now, you two little ladies stay out of trouble." Stanton opened the door leading into the workroom.
"Stanton." He stopped and turned around to look at Melly as she walked over to him, "I have a request."
"Sure, what do you need?"
"Don't build the time machine just yet."
"Wait, how did you-"
"Please!" She interrupted, "Just promise me that you'll at least delay it until Tina is well past eighteen."
"Melly, this is my dream… its what I've been working on all my life. What is this all about?"
She shook her head, "Now isn't the time. Just… please, Stanton. You know I would never do this without a reason."
He frowned, gazing at the two before him. She seriously seemed worried, more than normal. He wanted to pry the reason out of her, but he knew that would be pointless. She would share when she was ready, until then he would abide by her request. "Very well."
"Thank you, really." She kissed him lightly on the cheek and walked towards the baby room. Seeing that smile on her face was worth the wait, Stanton thought. It seemed as if a huge burden had been lifted from her shoulders, but the tension never left.
