Prologue

Lex Canginm was a typical business man. He was of average stature and wore a black suit, his hair was a light brown and had a few greying streaks in it. Canginm was sitting at his office desk. His office was fairly large with a huge window facing out to the city skyline and bookcases filled with books bordering the walls on either side if him and the door directly opposite his desk. It was past midnight and the city outside his window was brightly illuminated. The man sitting at his desk kept on reading the same line on the paper he was looking at over and over again, with none of the words sinking into his brain. With a sigh he leaned back in his chair and stared at the ceiling. Canginm got out of his chair and straightened his suit and walked out of his office into the dim hallway toward an elevator. He pressed the down button, the doors slid open silently, he walked in and pressed the button to go to the first floor. His back faced the rear of the elevator which was constructed of glass. The elevator moved quickly down the building and slowly stopped at the first floor. The doors slid ope and Canginm walked out to the lobby of the building. The floor was constructed of white marble with a red square running along the outside and multiple opening that lead to other elevators and rooms. As Canginm started to make his way across the room another person came up beside him. He was about the same height as him only a bit younger and his hair was a darker hue. "Good evening Mr. Hiaota." Canginm sighed.

"Sir, please, may I speak to you for a moment?" Hiaota pleaded. Canginm sighed irritably. "Please sir it's concerning . . . "

"What has been done, has been done. Now if you would excuse me." Lex cut him off and waving his hand in the air as if to shoo a fly away from him. Hiaota stopped suddenly as Lex passed through a set of sliding metal doors.

Hiaota bowed his head. "I'm sorry." he muttered as the doors closed in front of him.

Canginm walked though out a brightly lit hallway with ten by ten rooms on either side of him. He placed his hand on a scanner and the door slid open with a hiss. A child sat on a small bed attached to the wall with thin blankets draped around her. Lex walked up to her and put a hand on her shoulder. The child grabbed his wrist with her hand, it looked scaley and the fingernails were turning blackish. The blanket fell off of her and she stared at him with yellow bloodshot eyes.

"You." she hissed at him, taking her other hand and wrapping it around the collar of his shirt pulling him down to her level. "What have to done to me?"

Chapter 1:

Kalo Hiaota walked down the crowded breeze way of her school. She wore a pair of dark blue denims and a grey cardigan with a hood on the back and a white shirt under it. Her dark brown hair was also tied up and she wore a pair of black gloves. She carried a couple binders in her hands and a small black book bag on her back. She wove through the people and stopped at a dark blue locker, spun the combination and opened it dumping the binders in.

"Hey, Kalo!" shouted a girl coming down the hallway and stopping next to her. She had bright red hair that came into dread-locks, a pair of wolf ears on top of her head, and green eyes, she also wore a (red, green, black, white) plaid skirt, a black tank-top, and a pair of black boots. Her name was Taya.

"Hi." Kalo said slamming her locker closed and locking the lock on it.

"So, what's happening with you?" Taya asked leaning against the lockers.

"Nothing much, just a little too much schoolwork." Kalo smiled.

Taya looked confused. "It's like you're happy about that."

Kalo started out off the breeze way. "I guess, I sort of am." Some thing caught her eye. It was a boy wearing a pair of baggy blue jeans, a navy blue shirt, and a black cape across his back.

"Earth to Kalo, what are you staring at?" Taya asked waving her hand across Kalo's face. She pulled Taya's hand out of her face until he went out her sight. Taya looked and Kalo with a grin. "Aww how cute." she cooed.

"What?" Kalo questioned as she started to walk toward the stairwell.

"Kalo found herself a boyfriend." she teased.

"Did not. He just caught my eye." Kalo protested running down the stairs and out to the open grounds of the school heading toward the gate.

"Yeah, and you couldn't stop staring at him." Taya shot back.

"Oh just shut up, I don't even know his name how can we possibly be going out?"

"His name is Landon Shagrui." Kalo looked dumbfounded. "So now you can go out with him 'cause you know his name now!"

"You and your technicalities." Kalo muttered.

Taya stuck her finger in the air. "You'll get everywhere with technicalities Kalo. Trust me."

"I would rather not." Kalo spoke stopping at the corner of the road. She casually looked from one side to the other. "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Yes and tomorrow you get to meet your boyfriend Landon!" she shouted and waved crossing the street adjacent to the one Kalo was now crossing.

Kalo turned back and shouted back. "He's not my boyfriend!" Tay ignored and continued walking on out of sight.

-

Kalo walked unlocked the door to her apartment and walked in. It was a small room with a decent sized living area with a couch in front of the TV and a table with a couple chairs around it. Next to that there was a small kitchen which had a microwave in it along with a stove and refrigerator and that also looked out to a small balcony. Kalo dropped her bag next to the table and walked over to the refrigerator pulling out a soda and grabbing a packet of chips off the counter. She sat down at one of the chairs and pulled some books onto the table and open the packet of chips as she flipped through her homework. A knock came from the door a while later.

"Come in." Kalo shouted not looking up from her studies. The door opened and a male wearing dark blue jeans and white shirt along with a pair of black gloves. He had a wold like muzzle, green eyes, and silver hair.

"Hey." he said pulling off his gloves and throwing them down on the table and pulled a chair next to her. "You know what I've told you about not answering the door."

Kalo sighed not looking up from her work. "I did." Victor opened his mouth to say something. "I know what you mean but it's fine. No one knows where we are."

"You might think that, but he probably does know." he shot back placing his hands on the table. His hands were a furry and there were dog-like pads on his palms and fingers. Kalo started putting her books in her bag when she was finished she looked to Victor.

"So, why are you here?" Kalo asked clasping her hands together and leaning forward.

"I don't know. I was bored." he sighed.

-

Victor sat in front of the couch watching people flicker on and off the television screen. Kalo's hand was on his head and was scratching him behind the ears lightly. It was late and the sun had set hours ago.

"Kalo?" he whispered looking back to her. She was lying on the couch on her side. Her eyes were closed but he knew she wasn't asleep.

"Yes?" she answered in a drowsy voice not opening her eyes. Victor stood up and slid his arms under her lifting her off the couch. "Put me down. I can walk." she demanded, still not opening her eyes.

Victor didn't put her down until her got to her room and placed her on the bed.

"Night." he smiled to her as the light from the full moon shone in slits from her window.

"Good night." she sighed rolling over and staring at the window. "See you." she muttered back to Victor.

-

"Landon why did you have to drag me out here? In the real world with all the weird people?" Shang asked Landon. Shang wore a white long-sleeve shirt with a red short sleeved shirt with a black paw imprinted on the front. He also had two tiger-like ears on top of his head and a tail sticking out his pants. He and Landon were walking along the second story the school building.

"Because you need to get your lazy butt out of the apartment and get a life." Landon muttered he was wearing a black shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans. "Just think of it this way, here you can hit on the most girls in the shortest amount of time you ever have before." he teased.

"Really?" Shang almost yelled in excitement.

Landon rolled his eyes. "How will you know when you've found the perfect woman?"

"Cupid'll just hit me right there." he said pointing to his forehead.

"LANDON!" came a shout from the other side of the hallway, it was Taya. Landon and Shang turned simultaneously. Landon stopped walking standing back and waiting for the crowd of students to diminish a bit, Shang kept on walking not breaking his eyes away until he felt a pain on his forehead.

Kalo and Taya looked at the tiger boy continuing to walk away from Landon.

"You think he's going to notice the pole?" Kalo asked.

"Doesn't look like it." Taya said. "I just hope Landon doesn't know him."

Shang slammed into the support beam in front of him landing on his back at full force.

"Was that the Cupid's hammer you were talking about?" Landon said staring down at Shang with a huge grin on his face.

"No stupid, that was a POLE." Shang yelled at him rubbing his head.

Landon pulled his friend up. "What where you looking at?"

Shang was barely listening. "Landon who's that angel over there?" he asked staring at Taya dreamily.

Landon looked at him and shook his head.

"Sorry to disappoint you Taya, but it looks like he does." Kalo said laughing at him. "But on the bright side he also looks like he's been spliced."

"That's just great." Taya muttered. "I hope he won't be staying around all that long. That would be a disaster"

Landon started making his way over to Taya and Kalo. "I'm going to ask you not to do or say anything stupid. Please can you behave like a normal person for two minutes?" Shang nodded paying the least bit of attention to Landon, he had his eyes glued on something else. Landon rolled his eyes. "Hello," Landon greeted Taya.

"Hi Landon, this is the person I said I wanted you to meet." she smiled pointing to Kalo. "This is Kalo. Kalo, Landon."

"Pleasure to meet you." Landon bowed his head. Kalo did the same in return.

Landon noticed Taya's face seemed to be expressing a rather disturbed expression. "Taya you okay?"

"Um who's your friend Landon?" She motioned toward Shang.

"Oh, this is Shang." Landon answered. "Shang, this is Kalo and Taya."

"Oh." Taya nodded and looked back at Landon and Kalo. "Landon can I ask you fo a favor?"

"What is it Taya?"

"I'm going to be busy this afternoon and I need someone to babysit Kalo would you be interested?" She said with a pleasant smile. Kalo nudged her in the side.

"I wouldn't mind but would that be okay with you Kalo, I'm sure you don't need a babysitter but I can keep you company." He answered.

"Yes I'd love some normal company for a change." Kalo said with a bit of nip toward Taya's earlier remark.

"I'll just pretend I didn't hear that remark. Well if you'll excuse us Landon we have to get to the oh so reviving class of Social Sciences." Taya locked arms with Kalo and walked off with her down the hall.

"Wow she's got a lot of spunk." Shang stared at her until she was out of sight. "How can I get with her though?"

"Shang if there's one thing I know for sure it's that you'll never get with Taya." Landon started walking off down the hall.

Shang was right by his side with eager questions. "What why not?"

"Because Taya isn't exactly what you call the most social person she a little more of what you might call a wild flower."

"Is she really that hard to pick?"

"In my personal opinion you'll never get your hands around the stem." Landon said with a bit of smirk. Shang was actually quite the catch when it came to women but it was just going to be all to hilarious watching Shang with a real challenge. This most likely wouldn't even be considered a challenge seeing as how he probably wouldn't even get to first base with Taya.

"Why do you think it'll be so impossible?" Shang nagged.

"Shang I lived with you for over 3 years I've seen your technique and you're the kind of guy Taya usually beats up and trust me on that I've known Taya for a long while she won't take it easy on you just cause you got the idea in your head that she's your sole mate."

"But she is Landon she's the one." Shang said with excitement. "I felt cupid's arrow remember."

"I though that was a pole?" Landon said smartly.

"Well his hammer must been in the shop and the pole was a compromise. There's just something about her Landon." He smiled in a bit of a daze.

"Or maybe that was just your Shangish stupidity of not seeing blatant objects right in the middle of his path." Landon was sitting in the desk right in front of Shang they had reached their first class which was advanced calculus. "Look Shang you at least pretend to be able to concentrate on something other than a woman."

"I'll try but I make no promises." Shang and Landon looked to the front of the classroom when the teacher Mr. Ramsey cleared his throat to get the classes attention.

The class seem to drag on and on in Shang's mind. The teacher seemed to think that Shang was paying the least bit of attention. Shang was leaning on the desk his head just barely held up by his right hand and he was looking out the window.

"Shang you must know the quadratic formula perfectly seeing as how you don't seem to pay the least bit of attention, why don't you stand up and explain it along with it's solution possibilities?" The teachers arms were crossed and he was staring at Shang.

Shang stood up his eyes slightly closed his voice was that of pure boredom. "The quadratic formula would be x equals negative b add or subtract the square root of b squared subtract four multiplied by a times c over two times and depending upon the outcome and type of the problem it will have to solutions, one, or none considering weather it is positive, negative, or zero." Shang sat back down earning a stun looked from the wide eyed teacher, a dumbfounded Landon and some love struck girl nerds.

After class Landon and Shang were standing at their lockers on the main hall. "So Landon, my bestest friend in the whole wide world."

"No, Shang." Landon said bluntly.

"I didn't even ask yet!"

"Shang, I can't get you with Taya. She's not the dating type really she's got too much going on, on the inside." Landon shoved his giant history book into the locker.

Taya was walking with Kalo toward the arguing males. "Hey Landon." Taya waved. Kalo waved also.

Shang simmered just a bit. "Does Taya have the hots for you?"

Landon slapped Shang in the back of the head. "You're an idiot! We're just friends!"

"Or are you just saying that cause you have the hots for that Kalo girl, and don't want to acknowledge Taya's feelings?" Shang integrated.

"You've been watching to many of those soap shows." Landon shook his head.

"Hey, I only watch those when I'm sick." Shang remarked. The two of them ceased their arguing as the girls came closer and into ear shot.

"Hey Taya, hey Kalo." Landon greeted.

"'Sup Landon. Hey sorry but I gotta run you won't mind taking care of Kalo in my absence will you?" Taya asked almost in a motherly tone. Landon shook his head and smiled while Kalo rolled her eyes. Taya walked off toward the exit.

Shang left Landon side immediately in hot pursuit of his new found prey.

Landon followed Kalo to her locker where she retrieved a large math book and some papers. "Calculus doesn't do me any justice."

"If you want, I could help you." Landon suggested.

"That would be great, I could use a little extra help." Kalo loved his helpfulness. and the two walked out of the school and in the direction of Kalo's apartment.

-

Shang caught up to Taya just as she was walking down the sidewalk a little ways. "Hey Taya."

She turned around to see the tiger boy who was coming up behind her. Great, what could he possibly want?

"Taya I know this might be a little a forward but ...um... would you ...um... well I wanted to ask you if might you know consider um…hanging out sometime?" He smile was a little cheesy as he rubbed the back of his head.

She couldn't help but crack a smile in return. "Are you asking me on a date?"

"Yes actually I am." He answered a smile still across his face.

"I'm sorry, but, no." She answered and turned away to walk on.

Shang's mouth almost hit the ground. He ran to her side following her. "But why not?"

"I'm not a very social person. I don't do dates really." She said looking strait ahead at where she was going.

"Come on Taya it'd be fun. I wanted be with you. Please." He asked again.

"You're talking awful friendly to someone you just met. You talk like you think I'm meant to be your sole mate or something." She answered turning to look at him just a bit.

"Whose to say you're not?" He replied with a grin. She blushed looking away not wanting him to see. "So you're going home then?" He asked still following her.

"I don't have a home." She admitted feeling a little strange for telling him that and they weren't even that close.

"What? Why not?" He asked looking at he a little more intensely.

"I just don't." she answered clutching her shoulder bag strap a little tighter.

"And your parents?"

"I don't have any." She answered still not making eye contact as they stopped at a 'do not walk' light and waited for it to say that she could cross the road. She didn't want to let him on such manners things like that were just too horrible to bring up.

"You must be hungry, you can eat at my place it's just around the corner." He grabbed her hand and led her across the pedestrian pathway putting himself in the lead of course. Taya had no words to speak with, she was amazed at the patience that he had with her.

It took moments and he had her following him into a house. She was surrounded by loud rock music, the tables in the lounge had take out boxes and dirty dishes all over, not to mention and the TV was still on. Shang walked up to the stereo system that was next to the TV and turned a knob and the music vanished. "Sorry about that." He had another one of those apologetic smiles that she saw a lot from people. Only his seemed more sincerer.

"Don't you share this place with Landon?" She asked sitting down on the surprisingly clean dark blue couch.

"Yea guilty as charged. By the way if you see Landon before he comes home can you ask him to bring some more KonKi cause we're out." He answered coming back in with two Chinese take out boxes in his hand. "Sweet and sour chicken or noodles and rice?" He offered the boxes in front of her.

"Noodles, please."

-

Kalo sat on the edge of the couch looking and studying her current problem in her book that rested on the coffee table. Landon had gotten up to get them some drinks. Kalo had offered to get them but he insisted that she focus on this instead. She smiled thinking more about him than the arithmetic.

"So how's it coming?" He asked standing behind the couch with two soda cans in his grip.

"I don't understand the second part of the equation." She answered.

He jumped over the back of the couch landing softly next to her. She blushed at his closeness as he leaned over and almost into her shoulder looking at the problem. He's so hot and his eyes are so deep, and he's so close to me…ahh hot, hot, hot, hot, hot…

"Kalo?"

"Hot, huh?" She came back to reality.

"Hot?" He questioned looked at her with a raised his eyebrows.

"Ah yea, it's kind of hot in here." She answered quickly looking back at the paper. "So what do I do next?"

"You need to times the denominator by the number next to the a variable and then go from there." He replied writing the equation down for her. She was about to reach for the pencil when he put it out of her reach. "You've been working hard enough time for a break." He opened one of the cans and handed to her.

"Thanks professor." She said talking a big gulp. He smiled as he opened the other can. Kalo though this was a perfect time to ask him about something that had been puzzling her ever since she laid eyes on him. "Landon."

"Yes?" He looked up at her to show he was paying attention.

"What's under the cape?" She asked.

"Huh?" He looked a little bewildered at first.

"The cape, why do wear it?" She said touching the corner of it.

"Ah, no reason really, I just like capes. It's just a fashion statement really." He answered placing his drink on the table. "Um let me check your last problem to see how much progress we're making."

Kalo though maybe he was hiding something he did change the subject rather quickly. But she didn't mind she had secrets of her own, why should she make him put his out in the open.

"You're last problem was great I think you made on little mistake here though." He was pointing midway section in the equation.

Kalo had bent closer to get a better look and she accidentally knocked his drink over. Both of their hands darted to pick up the can and they touched with Landon's hand right on top of hers. They were so close too, they looked up both a little blushed. Their eyes locked for split second before Kalo turned back to the mess. Landon's hand had lifted from hers and she quickly picked up her notes to keep it from getting covered in the sticky beverage.

-

Taya had finished her meal and was sitting on the couch quietly. Shang placed his container on the table next to hers. "Taya if you're not doing anything tomorrow you wanna hang out?"

"Shang I told you-" She suddenly stopped speaking as he put his hand on hers.

She turned her head slowly to meet him face to face a gentle smile was on his lips. "Why won't you give me a chance?" He moved even closer than he had been before. Taya's face was flushed red. "I could be really good to you." He was gently pushing her down into a laying position on the sofa. He was nuzzling her at first, but then she felt a biting sensation on her neck.

"Shang!" Slap.

Shang was lying on the floor with a hand to his hand printed cheek. "Geez, Taya you didn't have to hit me that hard did you?" She got up and was opening the door. "Don't be mad with me Taya!" He whined.

"Goodbye, Shang, and thank you for the noodles." She said formally and shut the door behind her. She walked down the street her face still red. "I can't believe that guy, the nerve. I can't believe he had the guts to test me like that. He was rude, crude, forward, pig headed, idiotic, thoughtless, horny, selfish, arrogant, insensitive, careless, and the most inconsiderate guy I've ever met."

-

Landon and Kalo had finished up the work and had been relaxing for a while. They were talking when suddenly someone walked in door. Landon and Kalo looked up. "Hey Taya." They greeted in unison.

"Hello the, oh so happy couple." She answered throwing her bag next to the door. "Kalo, I'm staying the night that okay?"

"Of course Tay." Kalo answered tuning back to Landon.

Taya kicked off her shoes. "Thanks for watching her for me Landon. I trust she wasn't any trouble."

Landon stood up preparing to leave. "No, not at all." He winked looking back at Kalo who had stood up and smiled in return, they were face to face.

Taya walked past pushing Kalo into Landon. "Hug him, bye don't be rude."

Kalo nudged Taya in the arm and grumbled at her. But she just managed to get the word out. "Bye."

"Kalo?"

"Yes." She answered as they parted.

"Would you like to get together again over something a little more entertaining than homework?"

"Sure." She smiled excitedly.

"How about lunch tomorrow?"

"Okay."

He headed toward the door. "See you then at about 12?"

"Sounds good."

He was almost out of the door when Taya tapped him on the shoulder. "I almost forgot to tell you that Shang said you guys were all out of Kon-Ki at the house."

"Thanks Taya. I can't believe it we've already made three trips there this week."

"See ya, Landon." Taya shut the door behind him.

After Landon had left Kalo and Taya had set down on the couch and were finishing a movie. There was a knock at the door. "I'll get it." Taya got up and walked to the door and opened it.

"What are you doin-"

Taya shut the door in Victor's face and then returned to the couch. Kalo looked over at the door as it opened and a ticked off Victor entered the room. "What are you doing here Taya?"

"I might ask you the same question Victor." Taya popped some more popcorn into her mouth. She looked out of the corner of her eye. "Kalo doesn't need you as her babysitter. Just because you have nothing better to do is no reason for you to bother her all the time."

"Well why don't you stop mooching off Kalo and get your own place? Actually, you're mooching off of me because I pay for this place." He snarled.

"Why don't you get a life?" She replied calmly.

Kalo shook her head and got up. "I don't want to hear you guys argue I'm going to lie down." She said getting up and going to her room.

Victor was about to follow her when suddenly he turned around when he heard Taya moving toward the same room he purposely blocked her path to the door. "Get out of here Taya go sleep on a roof somewhere why don't you?"

She moved ever so close and put her hands on his shoulders. "Victor why don't you go to hell and take your attitude with you?" She swiftly kneed him in the stomach and walked past. She quickly turned around shut the door and locked it.

Victor banged on the door. "Taya!!"

"Go away Victor." Taya replied as she laid across the end of the bed. Kalo was sitting up on the left side reading a book. She refused to get into this argument if she could help it anyways.

Victor ceased his banging and took in a deep breath. "Kalo who else was here?" Both girls looked up at the locked door. "Kalo, someone other than Taya has been here, I can smell them...it's a male. Kalo who'd you let in the house?"

Kalo was speechless as she stared at the door. However Taya was there to cover for her. "Shut up Victor she didn't let anyone in I brought a friend home to help me with some homework." Taya rolled over onto her back. "Now if you're satisfied or even if you're not please do both of us a favor and go away."

Victor didn't say anything else he walked toward the door still inhaling the sent of the new intruder. "I'll find out who it is soon or later."

"Taya do you always have to upset him when he comes around?" Kalo questioned as she put her book on the side table.

"Yes I do because if I didn't then his life would be all to easy. You're to soft on that guy and mostly we just can't stand each other." She sat down on the right side of the bed next to her friend. "So tell me what happened between you and Landon during my absence?"

"Taya." She sighed a bit of a half smile on her face.

"Come on you two must of had some kind of moment during all that time you spent together." Taya nudged her just a bit. "Come on you oh to your best friend and match maker."

"Well..." Kalo started there was this- no I don't think..."

"Oh come on I bet it was so cute tell me please." Taya leaned in closer wanting to know more.

"Well I accidently knocked over a drink and we touched hands and then we...we locked eyes for a moment." Kalo blushed at the thought.

"That's great Kay, they say when you lock eyes with some like that for longer than ten seconds then you're meant to be together. Oh Kalo you and Landon will have such adorable children." Taya said gleefully.

"Taya!" Kalo attempted to hit her with a pillow but Taya ducked.

"I think maybe a boy with Landon's good looks and your eyes perhaps." Taya suggested dodging another attack.

"Errr Taya I'm gonna hurt you!"

"Like I haven't heard that one before." Taya said taking a hit from the end a Kalo's pillow before quickly returning the blow with an attack of her own. "You've got it bad Kalo admit it." Taya hit Kalo over the head again.

Kalo rolled her eyes and fell back on the bed. "Okay change of subject...so how was your little date with Shang?" Kalo asked the question in a mushy tone.

Taya's face was blushing with red as she laid back and covered it with her pillow. "Ummm..."

"Oh now who needs to spill huh?" Kalo pulled the pillow from her. "Don't deny it, you told Landon they were out of Kon-Ki at the house so therefore you were there now what happened on your little interlude?"

Taya sat up and let her arms rested across her knees. "Well my story's more, it's more well mine's different than yours, it's weird, unthinkable, and disgusting, and you wouldn't want to hear of it."

"I'll be the judge of that now tell me what happened while you alone with Shang." Kalo loved giving Taya a taste of her own medicine at times.

"Well first he took me their house for a little while, which by the way it's not to bad it's messy okay really mess but decent for to males, and there he offered me something to eat."

"Well it doesn't sound so bad so far he lets you into his house offers you food then what?"

"Then well he, he tried to well romance me."Taya blushed again.

"He 'romanced' you." Kalo almost laughed this more than she could bare. What she wouldn't have given to see Taya in the arms of some like Shang for more than 10 seconds would of been well worth her time.

"Oh shut up Kalo." Taya pushed her slightly.

"Come on Taya we both have something to laugh about now."

"Yea I guess you're right."

Taya laid down on her side Kalo did the same only facing the other direction. The two became comfortable and were soon to fall asleep. Kalo reached out and turned out the beside light. She closed her eyes waiting to fall asleep.

"Hey, Kalo."

"What, Taya?" She answered sleepily.

"Don't worry Landon's a virgin."

"Taya!"

-

Kalo woke up a few hours later. Taya was still asleep and the full moon was shining brightly through the window. Kalo got up and walked out the room, she glanced at the clock and cursed, then made herself a cup of tea. "Three more hours." she muttered to herself. She looked over her table and spotted her math book, Kalo sighed and looked back to her cup of tea then to the book again. "Might as well kill some time." she muttered to herself before dragging the book towards her.

"Taya." Someone yelled shaking Taya. "Taya get up." Taya rolled over and opened her eyes. "Uhhh too early.." she moaned.

Kalo walked out of the room. "You're complaining about it being too early? Breakfast is ready."

Kalo sat at the table nibbling a piece of toast while staring into the distance.

"I take it you didn't sleep well last night?" Taya asked snatching the bread from the plate it was sitting on.

"Yeah well, I'm used to it." Kalo said. She got up and grabbed her bookbag and walked out the door with Taya following close behind. "Taya," Kalo started. "I'm having lunch with Landon today, alright?"

"You mean you have.."

"It's not at date and I don't want you to treat it as one." Kalo interrupted. "And Miss Matchmaker, I don't want you interfering with my lunch today."

"What do you mean 'Miss Matchmaker' eh?"

Kalo rolled her eyes and smiled you know exactly what I mean, so don't play dumb."

"But Kalo it's going to be adorable! Can't I at least watch?" Taya pleaded to Kalo as they walked onto school grounds.

Kalo sighed. "Sure, I guess so."

"Yay!!!" Taya shouted jumping up and down and hugging Kalo. "You're the best Kalo."

-

Kalo sat down at one of the cafeteria tables while she waited for Landon. He showed up a few minutes later and sat down across from Kalo. Kalo smiled at him.

"So how's your day been?" Landon asked prodding the food around on his tray.

"Fine I suppose and you?" she replied.

"Yeah okay." Landon looked around. "So where's Taya?"

"She won't be joining us for the sake of some privacy on my part." she said conveniently leaving the part about her more than likely watching them at the very moment.

Landon chuckled. "Probably a good move." The was an awkward pause for a moment. "So do you and Taya live together?" Landon asked finally eating some food.

"Uh... sort of..." Kalo responded.

"Sort of?"

-

Shang watched Taya from behind a metal support, as she watched Kalo and Landon from a couple tables behind Kalo. "Time to make my move." Shang whispered to himself. He silently tip-toed closer and closer to Taya. As he got closer his shoulder rose and he started motioning his hand to her shoulders.

"Hello, Shang." Taya spoke to him bluntly as he was only a few feet away from her.

Shang's shoulder dropped in disappointment and he sat next to Taya's seat on the cafeteria table.

"You're no fun." he whined. Taya said nothing to him. "Taya.. I'm sorry. I really am, could you please give me another chance? Please?"

"Shut up, I'm trying to listen." Taya said quickly and leaned a bit further onto the table as she stared at Landon and Kalo.

"What are they talking about then?"

Taya sighed. "Boring stuff."

"So why don't we talk about not boring stuff?" Shang smiled at her.

"Maybe because I don't want to talk right now." Taya replied. Shang looked over to Landon and then back to Taya then started inching his hand slowly over to her leg he placed his hand on her leg and savored the moment. Taya spun around and pulled on his furry tiger ear. "You... don't you know when to quit?"

"Ow, ow, ow.."

"Have some regard for personal space." she growled at him before letting go.

"Ow, Taya, that hurt."

"It was supposed to you idiot." The lunch bell rang and everyone got up to leave.
