Seven Tears Spent
We could not wade forever
into this field of stars and moonlight
caught amongst the coming tide.
The warmth of my bed could not hold you
from the sea's song pulling at your heart,
nor could the sound of my tears
drown it out of your soul.
A tide pool like I can not compare
to the depths of the ocean's embrace,
I can not compete with the salt in your blood
or storms and wild behind your eyes.
Yet when the tide rolls out without you
I can hold you for while,
waiting for the waves
that will come to sweep you back out to sea.
