Fourth and fifth of January 2007

In the City of Bright Lights

The walls are colorfully colored

A layer of happiness on inviting homes

---

Near the markets

The children are smiling warmly

They are friends who will want to play with you

---

Near the pub

The men are singing and dancing

They are thespians who will want you to join them

---

Near the inn

The women are beautiful and feminine

They are mothers who will care for their families

---

On the street corner

A delicate flower has talent

And will rise to the heights of stardom

---

In the City of Bright Lights

The walls are grimly gray

A layer of paint on decaying homes

---

Near the markets

The children are smirking ominously

They are pickpockets who will try to rob you

---

Near the pub

The men are shouting and fighting

They are absinthe drinkers who will drag you down with them

---

Near the inn

The women are garish and rude

They are courtesans who will try to sleep with you

---

On the street corner

The delicate has cancer

And will lie in an unnamed tomb

---

And nothing will end this masquerade

In the City of Bright Lights
