origami heart

he said her heart was too edgy

and so he recklessly tore it apart

never does he seem satisfied

with the heart that she possessed

again he tried to make her change

folding here; folding there and—

he always seemed to enjoy making

those creases that will never fade

as a constant reminder that he

was the one to change her heart

he never stops until he's done

creasing; folding; smoothing

until he lays it gently upon her desk

then walks away, leaving her alone

with the heart she made for him
