Every couple has a spot. For some it's where they first met. For some it's where they got engaged. For others it's the place where they shared their first kiss. This man who walks down the street and his lover have a spot that doesn't fit in the major categories. In fact, they hadn't been together to their spot together since the event that had made it their spot had occurred. Unlike most moments that prompt a couple to choose their spot, what prompted them to choose this spot had been a moment of pain and anguish. He fingers the delicate rose that he has brought with him, kneels down, and places it on the pavement. It's been so long since he last visited the place where his fiancée had been gunned down in a random act of violence.
Another woman comes up beside him and whispers softly in his ear, "It's time to move on. She would've wanted you to." Tears begin to well up inside his eyes.
"But I don't want to let go."
"Well all have to one day. Wherever she might be, Natalie knows that you love her and always will. I'm not asking that you stop loving her. All I ask is that make a space in your heart for a new love." He kisses her softly on the lips.
"I suppose you're right." They walk off together, but something deep down in his heart gnaws at him. He can never love anyone like he loved Natalie.
