I tilted my head back, his jade eyes smirked down at me. My head twisted to Lacy, she just grinned and shrugged, leaning back against Hal. My jaw dropped open but nonetheless leaned back into Tristan. My whole body was coiled, tense, ready to bolt. Principal Bolts droned on about how this school year was going to be different, how it was going to be better, and for god's sakes, Cicero put your shirt back on.
I giggled; of course, my flamer friend would take his shirt off in the middle of a school assembly. He really was one of a kind, I wolf whistled, and gave a thumbs up to Cic who waved up the bleachers at me, and threw himself next to me.
Tristan's fingers trailed up and down my arms, goosebumps appeared in their wake. I tensed, "relax; Jake Griphen is looking this way." Disgust boiled in the pit of my stomach.
Jake Griphen was the single most perverted guy in Bishop High, he trailed after me like a lost puppy, trying to touch me in any way possible. I shuddered at the thought of what he would do if he ever got his hands on my. Pushing myself farther back into Tristan, his hands trailed up my neck, I unconsciously leaned into the soft touch. His fingers threaded through my hair, I sighed softly.
Tristan chuckled, it reverberated through his chest, I shot up and glared at him. "See ruin a good thing" I growled, the principal dismissed us. I grabbed Lacy's arm, who was talking animatedly with my brother, this irked me, and jogged down the bleachers.
We reached the crowded hallways and Lucy detached herself from my grip, "come on Ky he was just kidding. Well I have Clemmens first period so meet me at your locker afterwards." I moaned, and nodded
"Fine fine, we have off campus lunch this year, let's go to Jaque's, the best place on earth." Lacy nodded her approval as she was swept within the masses of bumbling freshmen and giggle juniors.
I shoved my hands in my hoodie pocket and made my way to the stairs that led up to Jersey's class.
"Well hello my pretty" a slimy voice slid through me, I froze, and turned mechanically.
"Griphen" I spat, walking backwards up the stairs, "leave me alone."
He walked towards me, every step threatening; his pale watery blue eyes glimmered with pure lust. I swallowed the bile that rose in my esophagus.
"I think that I want you," his voice hissed, my eyes widened. I turned and sprinted up the stairs, taking two at a time.
"My pretty, come back I'm sure you will enjoy it." I pushed myself harder, one more flight.
"It will be a cold day in Miami before I enjoy anything that is even remotely close to you." I yelled behind me, bursting through the doors I took off to my right, down the hallway.
As I turned a corner I slammed into someone, "shit" I muttered as I fell, something groaned underneath me.
"As much as I want you on top of me sweetheart, I don't think that's quite what I had in mind." My eyes widened, I threw my arms around him in relief.
"Tristan I'm really happy to see you right now, Griphen is…" Tristan's hands picked me up by my waist.
"What is this, of course, Walker always gets the girl. Are you going to use and abuse this one Walker, just like the rest of them?" Griphen's words were laced with contempt and jealousy.
Tristan's hands tightened their grip on my waist, his body tightened. I gripped his shirt, holding him back from completely annihilating Griphen. "I suggest you walk away Griphen. Walk away now." His voice was low, rough, demanding. It sent a pleasant sensation down my spine.
"So you two are together now, I can't say I'm surprised, the whole school has been waiting for it, heck the whole world has. But really let's see if this is true, kiss her Walker, no cheek kisses either, on the lips."
I tensed at his request, my mind screamed for me to run, Tristan looked down at me, I was struck by the regret in his eyes before they were shielding. He cupped my face in his hands, his lips lowered down to mine. I closed my eyes in anticipation, my chest tightened, I wanted this.
I waited for a second, when nothing came I opened my eyes. His jade eyes stared down at me; he kissed the side of my mouth, close enough to look real but not. The child in me stomped around in a tantrum, disappointment flushed through me.
"Dammit, alright I'm leaving." Griphen left, I glared at a spot above Tristan's head, stock-still. When Griphen was gone, Tristan stepped away from me, smirking.
"If I didn't know any better sweetheart I would think you wanted that." I swallowed and turned my glare to him.
"The day Hal kisses Lacy will be the day I kiss you Walker. Thanks but no thanks." I brushed past him, his hand wrapped around my upper-arm,
"Don't think that's far off sweetheart, be careful what you wish for" I ripped my arm out of his grip and stormed to my class.
