our splintered hips will fit together just like this

(a small piece of this puzzle)

a hitch of breath and slip of lips -

(will all of this such perfect bliss -)

i never understood before

(how damage is done)

a smile and a slide of skin –

(doesn't matter anyway)

you could watch me go –

(when i don't want to run with you)

with no strength left to kiss –

(we could just sigh and pass the time)

and curse this screaming thirst –
