won't you ever leave?

there's naught for you to thieve

from this empty heart.

you've gone and played your part –

all deceived by guile,

for a lofty while.

rapaciously you took

something you mistook

for a willing hand,

but you misunderstand –

for motives, I had none,

when everything begun.

my greatest flaw was only

that my heart was lonely,

searching for a friend,

which you offered in pretend.

I was readily receptive

of something so deceptive

as a helping hand,

not knowing what demand

you would place on me

as I, unwittingly,

stepped from off the road

for something that ill bode.
