Rosebush

On one side of the portal,
And rooted almost at the threshold,
Was a wild rosebush.

This rosebush,
By a strange chance,
Has been kept alive in history.

As history passes,
People glaze upon the rosebush,
As it sits outside the rotted edifice.

Rotting away,
The edifice shows death,
The rosebush shows life and death.

A blossom will bloom,
A blossom will wilt,
A cycle will flow.

On one side of the portal,
And rooted almost at the threshold,
Was a wild rosebush.

After reading 'The Scarlet Letter' by Nathaniel Hawthorne, I had to come up with two quotes for a symbol in the book. The first six lines are the two quotes I picked, for my symbol was the rosebush, they are in the first chapter if you want to make sure I'm right.
