Empty Light:

When every star

Has left the sky

And night fades

From view

And I am left

In this empty

Light

Light holds no shadows

Light holds no stars

Light holds no peace

The sky is bright

This bright noon

But it is empty

As a meaningless word

Nothing is so bleak

As this light

Of day

Light holds no shadows

Light holds no stars

Light holds no peace

Every sunset,

I dance

In the shadows

I make light

The dark

The delightful fun

To each night is astounding

To the rest it

Is so solemn,

So danger-ridden

But the shadows

Are like people

Expressive

In their joy

And in their pain

And glad in their life

But…

Light holds no shadows

Light holds no stars

Light holds no peace

Each star

Is to be called

By name

Each has its

Place in the heavens

By right

They give us but faint light

Only enough

To behold

The glories of each night

To each

An individual size

An individual light

Every star in the skies

Is each different

Is each divine

And…

Light holds no shadows

Light holds no stars

Light holds no peace

Existence of night,

Is an existence of peace

For there is no night

Without peace and

There is no peace without night

For peace may

Only be found in the dark

Peace must be taken

For one's own

But peace only settles

Over one in the deep of night's

Lull, for night hides

The tactless

Light of day

For night is the relief

To the brassiness of each day

Yet…

Light holds no shadows

Light holds no stars

Light holds no peace
