Heaven's Nest

"One brick of gold and one brick of silver, its mortar is of strongly scented musk, its stones are pearls and emeralds and its soil is of saffron..."

(Narrated by Abu Hurayra, at-Tirmidhi)

We sit and we dream,

When the world seems cold,

Seconds tick away,

And our life is sold.

The hands on the clock,

Move gently ahead,

We regret some things,

We have done or said.

Memories flow

Through our ageing minds,

Sunlight is blocked,

As we close the blinds.

Tears like pearls,

Slide down our pale cheeks,

Yet we smile, content,

As our God speaks.

"Gardens of Eden with rivers flowing under them, remaining in them timelessly, forever. That is the reward of those who purify themselves."

(Surah Ta Ha: 76)

He beckons us,

And we follow him there,

To a place where there is

Hope in the air.

Each molecule drifts

With stunning speed,

God sits with us,

And counts each good deed.

Then he adds a few more

Onto the weighing scale,

On the other tray

The bad deeds turn stale.

So we sit quietly,

Anxious and afraid,

Our next life rests on

Sacrifices we made.

"Then those whose balance (of good deeds) is heavy - they will attain salvation: But those whose balance is light, will be those who have lost their souls; in Hell they will abide."

(23:102-103)

We should have been better,

We should have tried more,

We should have helped others,

And opened each door.

God watches us crying,

And he watches the scale,

He watches it balance,

And us turn pale.

Then he opens his heart,

And has mercy on us,

"I forgive you, Creation,

You have my trust."

And we are speechless,

Forgiven and blessed,

We follow our God,

Into Heaven's Nest.

"They will enter Gardens of Eden where they will be adorned with gold bracelets and pearls."

(Surah Fatir: 33)

But even while we

Lounge there, content,

We pray for others,

And hope they will repent.

Your life depends on

Your good and bad deeds,

So try your hardest,

As your God speaks.

He will forgive,

And he will forget,

So repent while you can,

And repay every debt.

Be good to others,

And open your arms,

Be grateful and loving,

Hold time in your palms.

If you want rewards,

Then try your best,

And if God wills,

You will enter Heaven's Nest.

"Enter ye the Garden, ye and your wives, in (beauty and) rejoicing. To them will be passed around, dishes and goblets of gold: there will be there all that the souls could desire, all that the eyes could delight in: and ye shall abide therein (for aye).

Such will be the Garden of which ye are made heirs for your (good) deeds (in life)."

(43:70-72)
