The sky tonight

Feels beautiful and right

The stars, they live

They breathe and give

And I'm out here in the cold

Feeling like I'll never be old

Before my eyes I see the faces

All I've known in all these places

All the words said and gifts I've gotten

All these things I've long forgotten

Down the street I see the home

That she and I hid behind to be alone

And across from me I see the door

I've stared at so many times before

In the backyard the swingsets were our base

To escape to worlds far beyond this place

We dreamt for hours and laughed for days

Finding our humor in the strangest of ways

My eyes close as the memories sink in to the bone

And I can't help but smile even though I'm alone

Tonight I came home

And instead of going inside

As I have so many times before

I ran around the house

And slid around on the ice

I walked to and sat at the places that have held so many memories

I went to each corner of my fence

And stared off in every direction there was

And I remembered

I remembered all the things that were

All the pain, blood, laughter, tears, and love

And the only thing I could do

Was smile and laugh into the silence

Rapture is mine
