Walking the Plank

'A penny for your thoughts but a dollar for your insides

Or a fortune for your disaster

I'm just a painter and I'm drawing a blank'

'They say quitters never win

We walk the plank on a sinking ship'

-"Don't You Know Who I Think I Am?" -FALL OUT BOY

Seeing no shore to save myself

I ponder the jump and recoil,

The mere mention of right and wrong

Sent me off the deep end again

Civil rights are for civilized people

How many of them are around?

'There's a world outside of my front door'

And what face am I going to show it?

Thinking I've lost my touch-

Haven't written in so long,

Yet the words come,

Though I feel like they're forced

They're not -

I am

Forced to have a crazy schedule

No downtime

And all I wanna do is sleep

Forever and a fortnight

Dreaming of memories that are fictional

Dreading the life of day-to-day

Feeling useless -

Tired of all this...

Yet what can I do to change it,

When I've got everything

So stoicly-strategic

The wiggle-room is occupied

And I'm waiting for the music to start...
