Tattoos and Dolls

Brody is the sister of tattoo artist Ollie, and on the day of her eighteenth birthday she decides to grow up and go after the guy she wants Ollie's best friend and fellow tattoo artist Lucas.

Chapter 1: Happy Birthday

It was a Friday afternoon, and it also just happened to be Brody's birthday she was on her way home from school in the front seat of her best friend, Morgan Yuric's white BMW. It was then that she saw it, in the drive way of the small California home she shared with her brother.

"OH MY GOD!" she screamed getting completely excited and hitting Morgan on the shoulder playfully.

"Look look look! He got it he really did!" Brody yelled as soon as Morgan stopped she ran out of the BMW and up the driveway to where there sat an old looking 1969 baby pink Cadillac convertible. She felt like screaming, this was the one thing she wanted, and she had wanted it forever. Oliver O'Neil Brody's older brother stepped out of the house, closely followed by his best friend Lucas. And smiled seeing his sister so happy.

"I cant believe you did this Ollie!" she squealed running up to him and hugging him. He laughed and hugged her back.

"I hope you like it." He told her, letting go of her and looking back to Morgan's stunned looking face as she examined why her friend was so happy over this piece of junk that sat on her driveway.

"I love it." She told him turning to look back at Lucas who seemed to be more interested in the car than her. He cleared his throat.

"Alright I gotta go back to the shop and close up before the party. I'll see you guys later." He told Ollie who nodded. "And happy birthday Brody." He told her as if it was an after thought, she hated that, why was she always an after thought to him? Always, it was starting to get annoying. And she was no longer a little kid she wanted attention, she was adult and she wanted him to at least look at her as if she was one.

"What no birthday hug?" she called after him, not really believing she had said anything, she rarely if ever spoke to Lucas as if he was her equal. Morgan's head snapped up at what Brody had said, amazed that she had even said anything. Lucas turned around slowly looking at her with his steely blue-grey eyes she didn't expect him to chuckle the way he did.

"Nah, but if your lucky I'll give you a birthday kiss later." He teased, and Ollie laughed at that, but Brody was going to hold him to it.

T.I. was blasting from her brother's stereo and the party was in full swing. It was a classic high school party, red beer cups and all. The only difference was that instead of the usual high school kids there were other people, Ollie's friends and the tattoo artists Brody had grown up with. It was fun and everyone was dancing, drinking or discussing current issues, like which rap artist would make it big this year.

"Stop starring." Morgan told Brody coming to stand beside her as she sat on the kitchen counter. Brody shook her head and looked down at her friend.

"At who? I wasn't starring!" she told her innocently playing with her hair, Morgan rolled her eyes.

"Oh please, c'mon B I think I know you well enough to know you were starring." She told her. "Plus your playing with you hair like a fiend and you only do that when your starring at a guy, or tryin' to flirt with him." She continued, and it was true, Brody knew it, so she instantly stopped.

"Shut up." She said defensively, turning back to look at him quickly hopefully before Morgan was able to notice. It was too bad Morgan did notice.

"Jesus Broad, make a move. I mean I kno hes hot but I'm sick of you starring at him." Morgan told her, admiring Lucas for her self. "I mean yeah hes fine, very fine." She said biting her lip and watching as he danced with a random girl, who they both didn't know. "Man I bet he's been wanting you for a long time now." She finished looking back to her friend. Brody shook her head.

"Nah, he's Ollie's best friend, he would never want me." She said, the word want felt akward as she said it, because she knew that Morgan mean want as in lust and sex, and saying it made the childish crush she had on Lucas seem more adult-ish.

"C'mon, your hot, your eighteen, you go to a freakin' catholic school and where a kilt half the time. Why wouldn't he want you?" Brody shrugged not quite sure that she would want Lucas to only want her, although that might be a good start. "Plus, Ollie doesn't have to kno right? It'll be like some covert relationship." And she kept on going.

"Whats the worse that could happen? Huh? Some harmless flirting, a rejection perhaps, and then you can just forget about him and move along."Morgan told her and when she said it it sounded so easy, as if being rejected was something you could just get over and move on.

"And I say you start today, miss eighteen-yearold. He does owe you a kiss right?" Morgan laughed and walked away leaving Brody alone with her thoughts in the kitchen whilst the music was blasting and all she could think about was her brother's best friend. It was then that she decided that Morgan was right, all she needed was to see if it would work out with she and Lucas, and then if it didn't she would finally be able to stop swooning over him and move on.

Brody sighed and turned to see him dancing with the girl, their bodies moving together. She knew what kind of guy Lucas was, and she knew what kind of girl he wanted, and she also knew that she wanted to be that girl. She was ready to be a bad girl just to see what it would be like.
