This time, Leivos was the one who just sat there. Stella watched him warily. She knew her story was nowhere near as impressive as his; she had been a bystander for most of the major events in her life.
Finally he spoke. "As you pledged your assistance to me, so I pledge mine to you. I will help you bring your uncle to justice."
Stella, out of complete joy, threw her arms around Leivos' neck. Completely startled, he just sat there until she let go.
"I'm sorry," she murmured. "I shouldn't have done that."
He didn't comment, saying instead, "It's late. You just recovered; we don't want you getting sick again. You should get some sleep."
She nodded. They set out their blankets, and for the first time since the misadventure began, Stella slept soundly and naturally.
