Land of the Tuxedos

She glanced as another leaf fell down from the naked tree, having no leaves to cover itself from the cold that was soon coming. It was autumn, a very boring season when plants start to wilt and winter coming around the corner. The town, which is very boring, got its name as "Boring Town." This town is filled with boredom that most people fall sleep and sit all the time. Though, there is one person who doesn't want to be boring. That person is Red. Red is a girl who always has her hopes up, never giving up to find a cure to make the town un-boring. At home, it's always chores, chores and chores. There's never anything else to do, her mother is always busy with work.

Today, it was attic day. Red never liked chores, but since it was the attic, it was exceptional. The attic was her favorite spot, one where you could find many unique objects, some left from her ancestors. Since she cleaned the left side of the room last week, this week, she decided to clean the other half. As Red moved the giant box to her left for sorting, she accidentally knocked down something. BAM! It hit the floor hard.

"Red!!!" screamed her mother, who was trying to have a peaceful time to work, "what's that entire racket about?"

"Nothing! Everything's fine!" Red screamed back.

Now, Red bent down and picked up the object she knocked down. It was a box with beautiful carvings on the sides. Thinking it was a jewelry box, she eagerly tried to open it. But in time, she realized it wasn't a jewelry box when it wouldn't budge open. Stubbornly, she went to where her mother was and showed her mother the box. Her mother only replied in an annoyed tone, "Take it if you want."

And of course, Red took the box. Day and night, she studied the box like a mad scientist, not giving up, thinking there were secrets hidden inside. And that's when she dropped the box on the floor one day. BAM, then followed by a clanking sound. Red picked up the box and soon found a key on the floor. The key was bright and shiny, like it was just purchased at a shop. Weird, she thought, how could a key fall out of nowhere? She had never found a secret compartment on the box before.

Coming back from space, she looked around the box for a keyhole. And there it was! Where had that come from? She asked herself, even more shocked than before. It must be a magic box, she thought. Her mind was racing as she slowly stuck the key into the hole, the whole time, her hand shaking. She was afraid and excited to find out what was in the box. Then, she turned the key and clock! The box opened. Instantly, a light shone brightly and Red was zapped away, into the box. It was when she woke up, realized that she was not home, but somewhere else. Red quickly got up, still holding the box and looked around the place. The place she was in was plain and simple. There wasn't anything else in the place besides white.

"Hello, I see that you have awakened," said a voice behind Red.

"He- AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" screamed Red as she stood face to face with a penguin. Yes, a penguin. Black and white with an orange beak.

Taken aback, Red went berserk and went screaming "WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS PLACE? TALKING PENGUINS? I MUST BE DREAMING! THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS PENGUINS!!! OH MY GOD! WHERE AM I??

She kept screaming and repeating the same things over and over again. This went non-stop for at least five minutes until the penguin got annoyed and yelled, "BE QUIET!!!!"

Red obediently shut her mouth and listened to the talking penguin.

"A-hem," said the penguin, clearing his throat, "Welcome to the Land of Tuxedos, where all penguins live and talk."

"T-t-talk??" she stammered, "ALL PENGUINS TALK?!" screamed Red, going berserk again, and then managing to calm down.

Red then got settled in to the environment and got a quick tour. She asked whether they knew how to leave, none saying yes, since they have lived in the Land of Tuxedos and never leaving. Feeling homesick, Red managed to stay for supper. The fish looked weird because it was brown and purple, but tasted like no other fish she had ever tasted before. The fish was spicy and fresh, with a bit of sweetness and salt. The penguins called the fish "zosh." After dinner, the tour guide penguin took Red to see the chief. As they entered a giant tent, Red noticed that the chief was quite old. He had a beard that reached the floor, and a wig to cover his baldness. He also had a cloak that covered his entire body, from neck to toe. We exchanged greetings and Red immediately told the chief what had happened. As she spoke, the chief just nodded and nodded not interrupting or speaking at all.

When Red finished telling her story, the chief told her he knew of a way to leave, but she must visit them in return. Gladly, Red accepted and the chief led her to a room that was also white. He showed her a portal thing that was surrounded by large crystals. Red stepped in and in a flash, she was back home. She rushed to tell her mom what had happened, the talking penguins and sorts. Her mom only shook her head and told Red to stop watching too much television. Red had proof, but remembered that the penguin chief had warned her not to tell or take anyone to the Land of Tuxedos. So she kept quiet. At least, she wouldn't be so bored now that she has a land she can visit to call her own.
