A Day In The Wild
One day during a safari ride through the jungle, my good friend Jessica and I had decided that we would go exploring. As we got into the jeep I reminded Jess to put her seatbelt on. As usual she was goofing off and practically bouncing around in the jeep. I sighed as I drove off hoping she would eventually put it on. As we were grinding over twigs and much other assortments of plants and branches, I suddenly slammed on my breaks. A large baboon had jumped out into the path of the jeep. And as Jess not having put on her seatbelt, went flying into a large tree cartoon-style. Reminding me of George of the Jungle I started laughing as I quickly got out and shooed the baboon out of the way so I could go help her. She had a slight bump on her head and looked quite dizzy. I would be too if I had just practically flew into a tree.
Afterwards we both got back in the jeep and kept going. After for what may have seemed an eternity of driving bumpily over twigs and the whole jungle assortment, we had finally coming to a bride. Of course after said bump on her head, Jess decided that it would be fun to push all the buttons in the jeep and see what happened.
"Ohhh, what do these buttons do?", she asked.
She found the button that unlocked the doors. After unlocking the doors she had managed to slip and push on the door handle sending her rolling and tumbling out. I slammed on the brakes and rushed out to see if she was ok. She had the look of little yellow birdies flying around her head.
"Oh that was fun I wanna do it again", she said.
She would have done it again too if I hadn't stopped her. Up until then we had not noticed that the bridge was actually over a waterfall. It was quite a sight to behold. Lush green trees surrounded us with vibrant green bushes below. From where we were standing it was as breathtaking as being on the top of a mountain looking down. While I was lost in the beauty of the wilderness, Jessica managed to climb onto the other side of the railing and hang off the edge. I panicked and ran to grab her.
"Get down from there before you fall!", I told her.
And seeing how she already does not listen well, said with a defiant tone that only a little child would carry, "no". And at that point she slipped. She was laughing as she fell! Without thinking I jumped after her. Only to realize the stupidity of my actions after jumping. We both fell into the lake that formed at the bottom of the falls.
I surfaced from the lake and looked everywhere for her. I got out of the lake and started looking for her. Only to hear a scream right behind me. I turned to look, and what do I see? I see Jessica running right past me screaming something incoherent. As my curiosity got the better of me I looked back to see what had scared her so much. My eyes widened in horror as I saw a great panther bounding leap after leap after her. The next words out of my mouth are too explicit to be shown here so use your imagination.
We both sped out of there back to the jeep as fast as we could. As the panther got closer and closer with each second we finally reached the jeep. We both jumped in not bothering with the doors and started the jeep. The only problem was that the jeep didn't start. I kept trying to start it but it only sputtered and died. With the panther looming closer with each passing second I nearly panicked. Now what happened next was absolutely and completely beyond me. Most of you would have by now thought that the jeep would start and we would drive off in the nick of time. Not at all.
Instead, Jess pulled out a gigantic frying pan and wacked the panther upside the head. It fell flat and passed out. I just sat there looking back and forth at Jess and the panther with great big eyes like this O-o.
Jess says, "Aww look a kitty! Can we keep him, can we pleeeeease?".
I just stared at her before grabbing her and sitting her back down in the jeep before driving off. I drove us back to our little camp somehow without getting lost too much. Oh what a day that had been. I immediately fell asleep after that. As for Jess, who knows. She probably ran off again to go try and catch 'fairies', or as you all know, little rays of the sun that had shown through the jungle canopy.
The End
