A/N: Well, I had this idea for a new story, so here I am writing. I don't know if it will come out good, but I will attempt to write a good story. Enjoy, and please review!!!

Accidentally In Love

Prologue- The Party

My brother is so stupid. He thinks that every time our parents are out, we should have a party. He always makes up some excuse, like it's his friend's cousin's aunt's cat's mother's birthday, or something like that. God only knows what he's talking about. I've just given up on him.

So when he came into my room that night saying, "Scarlett, we're having a party 'cause mom and dad are in Las Vegas, okay?" I wasn't that surprised.

"What's the excuse this time?" I asked, not even looking up from my book. "Is it your friend's cousin's aunt's cat's mother's birthday or something?"

"What the hell are you talking about, Scarlett? Well whatever. We're just celebrating the last week before the start of our junior year."

When he said that I looked up. "You're celebrating the fact that school starts in a week?" I asked, not believing a word of it. "But, Landon, you hate school."

"So? We can still party," he said. I don't know how this guy is my twin, I mean, we're complete opposites.

"Whatever, Landon, I don't care any more." I went back to my book.

I thought I would be able to stay out of this party; I'm not exactly in with the people from my school. Of course, to most of the female population of South Country High School, my brother is the most beautiful and sexiest guy alive (ewww!!).

Actually, that's a lie; my brother is second, behind his best friend, Joel Brightman. My brother and I have known Joel practically our whole lives. And, although I hate to admit it, he is pretty hot. He is 6'1", has dark brown hair that's kind of long, and blue-gray eyes. He plays lacrosse; our school practically revolves around lacrosse. Even though we're only friends, you can't blame me for thinking he's hot.

Of course while my twin gets all the good looks and the brains and the popularity, I get stuck being the ugly little bookworm who only knows hot and popular guy because her brother is one (and no, I am not implying that I think my brother is hot, that's just gross!).

I'm not saying I don't have any other friends, because I do. Kirby McArdle is my best friend; we've been through thick and thin together. My other three friends, Haven Romani, Jade Reilly and Cheyenne Kerrigan are all amazing, and there couldn't possibly be any friends better than them.

I gave up on my book, deciding I should be at the party, just to keep things under control. I got down stairs to find that Joel and Landon's other friends, Corey Matthews, Logan Pacella and Scott Cohen, were already there, helping set up for the party.

When Joel heard me coming down the stairs, he turned around smiling. "Hey, peanut." Do not ask me where I got that nickname from; he just started calling me that one day.

"Hey, monkey butt." I replied, also smiling. "What are you guys doing?"

"Setting up for the party," Logan said.

"When's it gonna start?" I asked. "Who's coming?"

"Around nine." Scott said looking at the clock on the wall. "So we have an hour."

I nodded as Corey said, "And pretty much the whole junior class, besides the complete geeks are coming."

I frowned a little. "So Aimee, Idina, Zoë, Kasi, and Brandy are coming too?"

"Unfortunately," Joel said, "but if we didn't invite them, everyone will be talking about it at school and they'll get pissed."

"Whatever." I know they don't really like The Bitches, but I don't understand why they can't just stand up to them. 'The Bitches,' are what I like to call the little group of bitchy popular girls in our school. Their leader is Aimee Arnold, the bitchiest slut of them all. She hates me, and I hate her. She thinks I want 'her man.' She's 'in love' with Joel, and thinks I want him. But I'll say it again: Joel and I are just friends.

Aimee's second in command is almost as bad as her, not quite as bad, but I still hate her. Idina Smith, me and her used to be best friends, and then we hit middle school. Idina met Aimee, and started calling me a bitch behind my back, and became a slut. Then there are the O'Connor twins, Zoë and Brandy. Again, they were nice until they started hanging out with Aimee. I swear that girl changes the nicest people into complete bitches! Brandy and Zoë think they are all cool, hanging out with Aimee, but whatever. Zoë is bearable, but Brandy is such a bitch, and needs to learn how to wear eye make-up properly (sorry, that was really random, but it's true). The last of them is Kassidy Davidson (everyone calls her Kasi), who is actually really cool. She is nice to everyone, and smart and even though she's friends with Aimee, she's friends with everyone, and everyone likes her.

"Great," I muttered, "Just what I need, The Bitches."

It was 11:00 and I guessed that the party would go on for at least another couple of hours. I wasn't doing anything, besides trying to avoid The Bitches, who were currently trying to get with Landon, Joel and their friends. I sighed, and went to get a drink, so much for a peaceful night of being alone in my room reading.

"Thank the lord, there you are, Scarlett," I heard a voice say from behind me. I turned around and saw Joel running towards me.

"What's up?"

"Aimee won't leave me alone." I feel sorry for him, I really do.

"Well that's what you get for being the hottest guy in school." I say, not even realizing what was coming out of my mouth.

He paused for a couple of seconds before saying, "You think I'm hot?"

I could feel my face heating up. Shit, did I really just say that out loud? I try to act all cool about it. "Yeah, so what? You're hot, even if I've know you forever, there's no denying it."

"Okay…" he says. He's in some sort of daze, kind of smiling.

I smack his arm, playfully. "Come on, Joel, were still just friends." I say trying to laugh off this embarrassing moment. I look over his shoulder, (which is hard to do, since he's more than a foot taller than me) and say, "Oh, you better run, Aimee's a quest to find her 'true love' and is about to win." I laugh at the look on his face. "Run, monkey butt, run!"

"Uh, bye!" he says abruptly before running off.

I just stand there, laughing, until Aimee comes up to me. "Were you just talking to Joel?"

"Yeah, why?"

"What's a little bitch like you talking to my man?" she asks in her snobbish voice.

"First of all, Aimee, I only see one bitch here, and I'm not looking in a mirror." She gasps, OMG, get over you're self, Aimee! "And second of all, Joel's not you're man."

She puts her hands on her hips. "You do not talk to me like that, bitch!" she spat at me.

"Oh, I'm sooo scared." I say sarcastically. "Aimee's gonna call me names, and be mean to me!" Okay, I'm being a little childish, but who really cares? "Do you think I really care?"

She just kept giving me The Bitch Stare. "You little slut! Joel doesn't like you, get that through you thick skull!"

I smirked, "And he doesn't like you either. Now you've got to stop accusing me of being like you, I'm not a slut."

"That's right, isn't it?" Now she was being completely normal, and that scared me a little. "You aren't a slut, are you? I bet you've never even kissed a guy before, have you?" I froze. "No, because you are the ugliest piece of shit to walk this earth! Who would even want to kiss you? You'll never have what I have, the attention, the power, or the guys." She smirked, "You're probably a lesbian. How would you like if I spread that around? Are you ready to come out of the closet, Scarlett?"

I tried to speak, but it was difficult. My words came out just above a whisper. "I am not a lesbian."

"Well, then you better not talk to me like that, bitch!" And with that she walked around me to go find Joel.

I don't know why her words affected me like they did. I'd heard most of it before, but I couldn't take it, I don't know why. I felt like I was going to cry any second. I ran upstairs so I could get to my room before anyone saw me crying. I opened the door, and then quickly closed it, before the bedroom's occupants saw me. There was a couple making out on my bed. I was so close to tears, that I didn't even register that they were on my bed and how gross that was. I just kept going until I got to Landon's room. Luckily, no one was in there. I shut the door and sat on his bed, weeping. I tried to forget about what Aimee had said, but I couldn't. I don't know how long I sat there crying, all I knew was that some time later, I heard the door open.

I looked up, and saw Joel. I probably looked like shit, but I didn't really care. He turned around and saw me. "Scarlett?" He came over to sit next to me on my brother's bed. "What's wrong?"

I tried to wipe all of my tears away, but they just kept coming. "Nothing, just something Aimee said to me." I tried to laugh, but it came out sounding like a hiccup. "I don't know why it's affecting me."

"Don't worry about her," Joel said. "She's a bitch, you're way better than her and her friends. Don't listen to what she has to say, she just wants to hurt you."

"I know, it's just, I'm so tired of her nagging me all the time," I said, the tears still coming.

"What did she say?" I love how he's always there for me, always there if I just need to talk.

"Nothing, really," I started, "Just the usual, I'm ugly, I'm a bitch, I'm a slut, I'm trying to steal 'her man,' same old shit, really."

"Then why are you crying?" He asked. This boy knows me way to well.

I sighed; he'd get it out of me eventually. I might as well just get it out as soon as possible. "She called me…a lesbian. And I don't have anything against gays and lesbians, I just hate when people use it as an insult when some girls really are attracted to other girls. And I hate when she accuses me of being things that I'm not."

"That's so stupid, why did she call you a lesbian?" Joel asked.

"Cause I've never had a boyfriend or kissed a boy," I said quietly. It is embarrassing, I'm 15, going to be 16 in a few months, and that's really not funny.

He looked at me, his beautiful eyes full of care. "Tell her to watch 'The 40 Year Old Virgin,' there's nothing wrong with you. Like I said, don't listen to her, she's a bitch and needs to get over herself."

I laughed a little. I love Joel; he can always make me smile. "Thank you, Joel, you don't know how much it means to me that you're actually listing to all the crap that comes out of my mouth."

"Any time, peanut."

We both just sat on the bed, staring at each other. I could see a silent war going on in Joel's head, trying to figure out something. I'm about to ask him what he's thinking when, suddenly, Joel starts leaning towards me, really slowly. My heart skips a beat as his face gets closer and closer to mine. I have never been in this position before, and it is frightening, yet exciting at the same time. I feel his lips, lightly, touch mine. My heart skips another beat. I don't know what I'm doing, so I just sit there, feeling stupid. Joel has his eyes closed, but mine are wide open. I have never kissed anyone before, so I let Joel lead the way as the kiss starts to get more passionate. My eyes slowly close, and my arms snake around his neck, my hands finding their way into his hair. His arms wrap around my waist, and he pulls me into his lap. I straddle him and we stay like that for god knows how long making out. Finally we have to pull apart for air. He looks into my olive green eyes, as if asking my permission to keep going, and I nod. He lays me down on my brother's bed, and then gets on top of me. My hands find their way back into his hair as he kisses me again. His hands slowly start going up my shirt. The only thought that was going through my head was 'God, I hope my brother doesn't find a need to come in his room.'

About an hour later, I got out of my brother's bed, and quickly got dressed. I never thought that I would get my first kiss and loose my virginity all in one night; this was crazy! What's worse is who I'd lost it to and where I'd lost it. My brother would kill Joel and me if he ever found out. I felt like crying again, I don't know why, but I did.

I saw that Joel had gotten dressed as well. He was sitting on the bed with his head in his hands. I was about to walk out of the room when he called my name. "Scarlett?"

I turned around; he was looking at me now. I sat down next to him. "I'm sorry," he said, "I shouldn't have done that, you deserved a better first time than this."

I looked at him and knew that he meant it. "Don't blame yourself, Joel, it's not like I was trying to stop you."

"I know, but still, you're special, and you deserved it to be with someone you love, and when you're ready. Not when you're brother's best friend forces you to do it."

"Joel, I told you, you didn't force me. I never expected it to be like this, but don't blame yourself." I smiled. "You'll always be 'Monkey Butt' to me, even if my first was with you."

"Thanks." I got up to leave, but he grabbed my arm, and pulled me back down. "Um, I just wanted to tell you that…you were my first too."

I was shocked by this, I know this will sound mean, but I'd always pictured him as the type that slept with every girlfriend he ever had, and believe me, he'd had a lot. "Really?"

"I know, shocker," he said. "It's the girls I date that are the sluts, wanting me to sleep with them, but I never did."

"Thanks for telling me," I said honestly, it made me feel a lot better, like I'm not just one of his many fuck buddies. "Sooo…I guess we're not going to tell anyone?"

"Actually, I was thinking of telling you're brother right now."

"Ha, ha, very funny." I said.

"Obviously not," he said.

I nodded and stood up. "Well, I guess I'll see you later." He just nodded and I left the room.

The party was still going strong. I didn't feel like staying in the house tonight, I was still trying to figure out what had happened that nights. So, I called Kirby.

I ended up staying at her house that night, and I told her about everything that had happened.

"So, you slept with Joel…in you're brother's bed?" she shrieked. "God, your life should become, like, a soap opera, or a book!"

"You know, it's not as great as it sounds," I said, between bites of ice cream. "Do you know how weird things will be between him and I now? And around my brother? I don't think I'll ever be able to go into Landon's room again!"

"So what!! You got to sleep with the hottest guy in school! You can totally shove that in Aimee's face, after all the shit she's done to you."

"Whatever…" I didn't feel like talking about it any more.

That was defiantly one of the strangest nights of my life. At the time I had know idea how much my life would change from that one little hour, how much all of our lives would change. That night was the beginning of my long crazy life story, that's still incomplete.
