the bell tolls, an ominous sound
it breaks the barriers between sky and ground
the ground shudders
the sky quakes
and nothing is left untouched in the bell's resounding wake

tactile sound is like nothing you've heard
it's tremulous, ancient, powerful, absurd
you can only taste
the tactile sound
for it is not easy to come by, and hides all around

laughing and singing
muttering and sputtering
over the sound waves that fill the air with their fall
we smile brightly even the harshest sounds
for we are pleased that we can hear anything at all

we ride them out day by passing day
and sink into silence when there is nothing to say
you can only love
the ability to hear
for it is a gift we are given to share that what is to us dear
