I Promise I Won't Let You Fall

by, Cassandra

What is it that you're running from?
Don't try to tell me you're not, because
I've run enough to know the signs.
And trust me, if you were wearing running shoes,
you'd be miles away from here by now.
Try to twist our words so that the end justifies the means,
but honey, I can see it in your eyes…
this is killing you inside.
Mutter another empty excuse as you try to turn away,
and hide those tears that are rolling down your cheek.
Does it hurt more to stay then to walk away?
I just can't see how this pain could be worth it in the end.
What is it that you're running from?
Just take my hand; I promise I won't let you fall.
