I rested my head on the cool glass as I stared out the car window at the passing scenery. My car was packed with boxes and bags and who knows what else because of my stupid parents. Well, let me start over. My name is Raven (yes, like the bird) and this is my story. The story of how my life went from fab to drab.

It all started when my parents decided that they didn't love each other anymore and they were going to get a divorce. My mom wanted to move back to California with her family and my dad wanted to stay in Vegas where I grew up, so that's what they did and I stayed with my dad in Nevada. I lived there through my sophomore year in high school until my dad started having money issues and since my mother married some rich doctor or what not, they decided that I would move in with her, without my consent I might add. So now here we are. My dad is going to drive me to my mom's house in California and he is going to visit for a while before maliciously leaving me with those rich snobs.

I bet you're thinking, "Hello! These people are rich!" Money is good so all's well, right? Wrong with a capital W! I love my dad. I love my life with him. I love my friends and my house and my school and I don't want to leave! Okay, so I can be a little immature at times but I want my life back!

Me? Well I'm your typical run of the mill girl. I have brown hair that is shoulder length and has long layers with brown eyes. I'm relatively skinny…well, no, I'm extremely skinny. I guess it's my genes or something 'cause I can eat whatever I want and I take full advantage of that. (People stare at me funny when I down five pieces of pizza in one sitting and never gain a pound.) I'm not the preppy cheerleader kind of girl. I would rather wear jeans and an old t-shirt than a skirt that hardly covers my ass and a top that shows half my cleavage and you can count my ribs through. I like sports. I'm a soccer fan and I play on my school's varsity team. Well, that was before. I'm medium height, around five-six, and that's me in a nut shell.

We pulled into the driveway and my dad turned off the car. I refused to talk to him the whole way so he sat there for a second, waiting for me to say something.

"So…it's time to go in." he said slowly.

I reached over and locked my car door.

"C'mon Rae, don't do this to me. I want you to be able to stay, I really do, but this isn't going to work. Life will be better here, I promise."

I closed my eyes to keep back the tears. "Money doesn't make things better, dad." I finally spoke.

He reached over and caringly played with my hair. "I know, sweetie, but things will be better this way."

"I don't want to live here."

"I know, sweets, but we're here anyways. You might as well go in and visit with your mother."

"I don't want to visit with her."

"Don't be like that." I looked over into his puppy-dog eyes. "Please, do it for me?"

I rolled my eyes as I unlocked the door and got out of the car. My god do they live in a huge house! I looked up at the looming house and suddenly felt so small. The thing was massive! I walked up to the porch followed by my dad and took a deep breath before I rang the doorbell. After my finger left the button I spun on my heel and started towards the car. "Well, looks like no one's home. We should probably get going if we want to get home in time for dinner." I felt my dad's hand grab my arm as I heard the door open. I silently cursed whoever opened the door as I turned and looked at the most gorgeous boy I have ever seen. His cool blue eyes looked amazing with his blonde hair falling casually in his face. He was tall and built like an athlete. My dad pulled me back on the porch as my mother appeared behind the hottie.

"Henry! Raven! It's so nice to see you again." My enthusiastic mother exclaimed as she threw her arms around me.

"Love you too, mom." I gasped from underneath her suffocating hold.

My dad offered his hand to the hottie. "My name is Henry, you must be Josh. I've heard so much about you."

The hottie smiled and shook my dad's hand. "No, actually my name is Luke." Suddenly an equally as hot guy appeared behind him with a girl next to him. The other hottie had brown hair and eyes that were equally as magnificent as the first hottie's and a body to match. The girl had dyed-blonde hair and brown eyes (and brown eyebrows I might add that totally gave her bleach blonde hair away even if it wasn't already a dead giveaway.) She was short compared to the towering guys. I'm guessing around five-four or something with the guys standing at at least six feet.

"I'm Josh." The second hottie said as he smiled and reached around Luke to shake my dad's hand.

"And you must be Heather." My dad smiled as he offered the Barbie his hand.

She gave him a fake smile as she nodded, not shaking his hand. Bitch! No one treats my dad like that! I should just- My thoughts were interrupted as a guy walked up and put one hand on Heather's shoulder and the other on Josh's. "Hello, my name is Thatch." Thatch? What kind of barbaric name is that? He offered me his hand and I shook it with a smile.

"Raven." I introduced myself.

"Well, come in!" my mother exclaimed in an annoying voice. "Boys, why don't you help Raven with her bags?"

"She's so manly she should be able to do it herself." The Barbie muttered under her breath so that only Josh and I heard. Josh gave her a slight tap on the back of the head before walking past her out to the car. I gave her a mean look before turning to follow. Josh grabbed my biggest suitcase and headed inside leaving me and Luke to get everything else.

"So, you're Raven?" he said. I could tell that it was a bit awkward and he was trying to start a conversation.

"Rae." I corrected. I hate it when people call me by my full name.

"Okay, Rae. So, what do you think of Cali so far?"

"It's nice." Well it bloody is now that I'm surrounded by hotties! I can get rid of the evil Barbie.

"That's good." We put my bags by the door and went into the massive living room where everyone else was sitting. My dad looked so uncomfortably surrounded by these people of another species so I decided to go sit down next to him. We talked for a while before my dad looked at his watch and stood up.

"Well, I should be going."

"What?!" I yelled as I stood up next to him. "You said you were going to stay and visit!"

"I did."

"I thought you were going to stay for a couple of days!"

"No, I really must be going." He kissed me on the forehead before walking over to the door. "I'll call you."

I took a deep breath and blinked back the tears before running up to him and whispered in his ear. "You aren't going to leave me here with these people, are you?"

"I'm sorry, honey." He whispered back. "I'll be back to get you as soon as I can."

I forced a smile before I kissed him on the forehead and watched him walk out to the car. I waved as he drove away, leaving me on the alien planet.

So here's the recap. My dad ditched me to live with my mom. My step-dad is a barbarian doctor. My new stepsister is an evil Barbie from planet prep. Oh, and my new stepbrother, Josh (which I had no idea either new sibling existed), and his friend, Luke, are hotties. (Is that wrong of me to think that my stepbrother is hot?) Someone come rescue me!
