"The Enemy is Within"

The enemy is within,

some rotting disgusting piece of me is all that trashes each relationship.

I am the mistake and every fault that you appoint to yourself is only mine to bear.

You are not to blame for white lines, careful lies, and sharp ridges

though it has, in truth, always been about you.

They were my mistakes that broke apart whatever embrace we had and so

the after effects are my burden as well.

Do not judge yourself too harshly. I have this effect.

Guilt is not as attractive on you as it appears to be.

You are guilty for nothing, release whatever you feel to be your mistakes and re-heal

because likely and blatant as it is; I need you.

Within your arms is the only place I ever feel safe from others –

but more importantly from myself.
