A/N: Dear Folks:

Please read this story, or at least the first two or three chapters (there's action in the second one), and then let me know what you think of it. Or else...well, I know nobody enjoys cervical fractures. Bwahaha!

Regarding originality: All characters, events, story elements, and etc. etc. and sofourth, are original and mine.

Act 1: Twist

COLD OPEN ON:

INT. – MUSASHI'S HOUSE – MORNING

We don't have any time to take in the surroundings, which is deliberate, but we're in a very well-decorated mansion, as far as we can tell, with an awe-inspiring view on some lake, or some ocean. We don't know but it looks great, and hopefully, we don't try to find out which body of water we're looking at. It's sunrise – minutes, seconds before BLUE TIME ends.

Before us – not even far before us – our first shot is pretty close to them – are TWO MEN, MUSASHI MIYAMOTO and CARRADINE. Musashi's clearly the older – maybe 10, 20 years older than Carradine, depending on how in-shape Musashi is. Carradine's probably 18. Musashi may have Japanese in him the way his name implies, he may not. He's about 5'9", and Carradine's a little shorter; Certainly doesn't help with our perception of his age. The most remarkable thing is that Musashi's hair is short, maybe an inch long, whereas Carradine's hair is relatively long – 5 inches, perhaps, at the longest. More importantly, Carradine's hair is GRAY-WHITE with some black in it, like something scared the color off him.

By body language, the men are pretty comfortable with one another. Both have DRINKS in-hand – drinking buddies? At one of their beach houses? They're HAPPY. Maybe it's so early nothing bad could've happened.

FS ON MUSASHI and CARRADINE: We slowly DOLLY IN, transforming it into a BUST-PROFILE SHOT:

CARRADINE

I know it's...wrong of me, but

sometimes I just don't care

about that kinda shit.

MUSASHI

I know what you mean. Sometimes

people expect old traditions to

carry over that way.

CARRADINE

I know. It's like...They're

probably well-founded. Fuck it,

maybe they're NOT well-founded.

Musashi LAUGHS. Carradine GIGGLES a little.

CARRADINE (CONT'D)

But...It doesn't matter. Things the

way they are call for things to

change sometimes.

MUSASHI

Do you know how I...came to be? Like

this?

Carradine THINKS ABOUT THAT.

(Cinematography note: The dolly move ENDS HERE. Once it ends, we GO TO CUs of the men.)

CARRADINE

No.

MUSASHI

It doesn't matter, but it proves

your point.

CARRADINE

Really?

MUSASHI

Sure does.

OVER-SHOULDER SHOT LOOKING OVER CARRADINE TO MUSASHI: Musashi TAKES A GULP FROM HIS DRINK, whatever it may be.

IN ONE SHOT:

OVER-SHOULDER SHOT LOOKING OVER MUSASHI AT CARRADINE: By his expression, mentally, Carradine's about A THOUSAND MILES AWAY.

MUSASHI

When did you stop being a kid?

The men LAUGH.

CARRADINE

About six hours ago.

(takes

a sip)

Maybe more than that.

MUSASHI LAUGHS.

WS ON MUSASHI AND CARRADINE: Same angle, just further back. THE SUN IS RISING JUST BEFORE US –
