God's Greatest Gifts

One day I'll certainly get by

Because of all my dreams

These things that make me live

When everything else makes me scream

In my window reflections pour out;
Tears streak my face

Take a deep breath; in, out, in, out

Now switch to that other place

What would it be like to dance

While the sky is crying rain?

What would it be like to love

Through my broken pieces and my pain?

What would it be like to see

The dawn of a coming day?

What would it be like to have

A frown on the opposite way?

What would it be like to feel

Any sense of adventure?

Would it take a simple walk

Or an all out crazy venture?

What would it be like to quiet

All my haunting thoughts?

Would it be completely wonderful

Or would my stomach still be in knots?

What would it be like to go back

To the days when I was alive?

The days before the demons

Killed my heart inside

What would it be like to live

Without constant fear?

What would it be like to have a guy

To wipe 'way all my tears?

It is all of these dreams

That make my daily hope

Without them I'd be lonely

And of course I'd always mope

These are the simple things

That get me through each day

These are the things that keep me

From ever running astray

Please give a round of applause

To God's greatest gifts

The things that kept me alive

Before grief pushed me off life's cliffs
