Thirty-Two Tears

Thirty two tears from heaven fell

And drowned the fifty states

As God above did mourn in love

His southern children's fates

As angels cried, they filled the skies

And heavily did it rain

As dark clouds built a stairway

Of memories and pain

But this stairway led to heaven

To a place where rain ne'er falls

And thirty two tears from paradise

Did cleanse the bloodstained halls

The candlelight like stars so bright

Dispersed the mournful haze

And with new hope it ushered in

The sun's own brilliant rays

And as the light did dry their tears

What appeared in the sky above

But a maroon and orange rainbow-

A sign of hope and love
